Headcanon that two or three times a year the Ghostbusters do like an open house for girls interested in science and the station house is just FLOODED with girls, wee ones all the way up to awkward high schoolers and college kids.
Each Ghostbuster gives a 20 minute lecture on their particular specialty–Erin does a boiled down Physics lessons, Abby talks about the supernatural, Patty talks about history, and Holtz gives gadget demonstrations. And for 80 minutes all the girls watch in wonder because they have FEMALE SCIENCE HEROS. Then after they do a Q&A and after that do photos and autographs and station tours. They raffle off a ride in Ecto-1 to a lucky group of three kids.
Each time they do it it gets more and more popular until they literally have sign ups and a waiting list for it. The women are just flabbergasted by how popular it is, but then they remember how going into STEM was for them (or in patty’s case, how awful STEM was to women) and they get why their open houses are important. So they keep doing them. And girls keep coming.
Eventually they use their money to set up a foundation to help girls interested in sciences go to college and even offer training for some until they have enough members to expand across the state and later the country.
Hugs are actually so underrated especially those hugs that are so tight u can literally feel the other person’s heartbeat n for a moment everything feels so calm and safe like nothing can hurt you
me and my qpp are discussing whether or not gems have buttcheeks
they have no need for an asscrack, except if they eat and thus need to shapeshift one, so…
i was thinking the same thing at first , HOWEVER
Gem Buttcheeks Confirmed
I’m no scientist but I think separation of the buttcheek muscles are necessary for proper upright walking? I mean, the Conehead aliens don’t have buttcheeks, and that’s why they waddle.
Here’s an interesting question, if step siblings or in-laws fall in love with each other does it count as incest?
Depends on what you consider incest. If you believe incest is a biological matter then no, it would be fine. If it’s a matter of familiar relationship then it’s not fine. I personally thing incest is a matter of genetics so step siblings would be fine since they don’t share any dna. Half siblings would be a big nono because they still have common genes.
The other day I was showing my bff some of the stuff I made with ps and while he was very enthusiastic about it, he also said something that made me think:
“Is this hard to do though? I have no idea how photoshop works, so I don’t know if this takes a lot of time and skills or if it’s something that anyone could do in five minutes.”
I snorted pretty hard at the “five minutes” part, cause I wish, but then it occurred to me that most people are probably like my best friend, and having no idea how we do what we do, take for granted our gifsets (which are indeed not made through witchcraft, though I’m convinced some of us must have sold their soul to the devil).
I’ll forever remember that one person that commented under a colour porn gifset of mine “wow, I didn’t remember this movie was so bright and colourful!”
… That’s cause it wasn’t. I made it that way. Everytime you see a gifset, someone made it that way.Bright, dark, very pink, very red (or in my case very cyan), very colourful.
And it’s not just a matter of choosing all the scenes to gif (and consequently capture all those screencaps, decide where to crop them, resize them and, only after that, beginning the adventure that is colouring).
There’s a huge difference in what a movie/video looks like before we get our hands on it and after, and I think that’s probably one of the things that people who don’t make gifs tend not to realize.
Let me show you!
This is a gif of a scene taken from Iron Man 2. The only thing I did was resize it to 500pixels. This is what the actual movie looks like:
this is the exact same scene after I coloured it and applied my sharpening settings:
Now what you may think is “you just made it bright!”
It took me 12 layers of careful adjustments to just make it bright (which is not all that I did, btw) while trying not to bring out pixels (impossible with a scene as dark as this one) while at the same time trying my best to keep it under the 2mb limit (over which you can’t upload your gif on tumblr or it won’t move), and trying not to whitewash Rhodey as I lighten everything else. Let me tell you, none of this is particularly easy. It’s not impossible, but it’s not something you learn in five minutes.
Here’s another example:

colour porn:
Now the point of this post is that I’m hoping that people will see and understand that there’s a lot of work and effort on our part to make these gifs, so that everyone can appreciate them. And yet we see that effort easily dismissed every day when our works are stolen and reposted and people have no qualms about rebloging them anyway, cause after all they’re just pretty pictures made with a computer, what’s the fuss.
It took me two years of almost daily practice to get where I’m at now (and I still have a lot to learn), and that kind of attitude hurts me as a person before it hurts me as a content maker.
Blocking reposters and spreading the word doesn’t help much if things like this keep happening and no one cares.
This website is mostly made of gifsets and graphics (that’s not to undermine the importance of art and fics, I’m just saying that you see more gifs and graphics and photos than those other kind of wonderful content) and it would be a dream come true to see a bit more respect and appreciation for our category.
Leave nice tags under someone’s gifset you really really liked. Tell them how much you loved how they used that particular song/quote on that particular character. How happy you are they’re making gifs about your favourite ship.
Encourage content makers, you’ll be rewarded with more content.
Be kind. Do not take us for granted, please.
ALL of the said here is SO important, and one of my personal favourites is “Leave nice tags under someone’s gifset you really really liked. Tell them how much you loved how they used that particular song/quote on that particular character. How happy you are they’re making gifs about your favourite ship.“ Because it’s something that most of the graphic makers do not receive. Ofcourse it’s nice to have notes and likes BUT a really nice comment in the tags can make a BIG difference, specially when graphic makers are having hard times and sometimes think of quit doing it. So please, APPRECIATE THEM, APPRECIATE GRAPHIC MAKERS :’)
did y’all just forget that lapis was heavily based on and came from rebecca sugar’s margo in bed, which was a comic she made about the literal abusive relationship she went through? and yet y’all wanna make jasper the victim huh
lapis can be a legit self-insert of rebecca’s experiences of an abuse survivor and y’all still wanna make her out to the abuser. telling.
full offense but it is fucking ridiculous the lengths this fandom will go tryna make lapis out to be the abusive one instead of jasper. we’ve had:
-actual abuse survivors come forward saying they relate to lapis and that they heard these same words form their abusers
-multiple depictions strengthening jasper as being the abusive one, showing her dragging lapis around, yanking her to her so she can’t get away, threatening to shatter steven, blaming steven for lapis recognizing their toxic relationship and saying no, saying she’s changed, that she’s “different”, gaslighting lapis and maker her out to be the abuser, and literally coercing her to fuse with her when lapis was in no position to refuse her
-lapis being heavily based on (enough for margo to be considered the “proto-lapis”) rebecca’s comic margo in bed, which was about her experiences in an abusive relationship
but we still have people reaching so hard their arms break to convince others lapis is the abusive and violent one….almost like…someone we know….👀
Furthermore, the things Lapis did that people claim to be “abusive” were her literally self-sacraficing to keep Jasper from emerging, gaining power over her, hurting Steven and the others, etc.
Also there are so many people talking about how “boring” Lapis is, and her “lack of personality”, as if those aren’t typical traits/behaviors/outcomes that..literally come from abuse…for a good number of survivors
Things that are okay: Having a headcanon about a character’s age/sexuality/gender/ethnicity.
Things that are not okay: Imposing your headcanon on others and harassing them if they don’t agree.
Things that are even less okay: Accusing someone of serious things such as homophobia/pedophilia/transphobia for something as stupid as not sharing the same headcanon as you.
Then we had reverse Rickrolling, where you trick people into thinking they’re about to be Rickrolled, but it’s really something else.
Then we had post-reverse Rickrolling, where you set up what looks like a reverse Rickroll, and folks are pleasantly surprised to find that no, it’s actually just a Rickroll.
What’s next?
A compilation of further variants from the asks, tags and notes:
The Wrongroll: Tricking someone into watching the video component of “Never Gonna Give You Up”, accompanied by different and wildly inappropriate audio (e.g., Rick Astley performs “Down With the Sickness”).
The Teamroll: Making a post that looks like it’s going to be a Rickroll, but isn’t, then having an accomplice post a comment that contains the actual Rickroll.
The Bait-and-Switchroll: Posting a different obnoxious meme (e.g., “JOHN CENA”), which is interrupted by or segues into a conventional Rickroll (e.g., you have now been Rickrolled by John Cena).
The Interrupted Rickroll: The reverse of the preceding entry; it starts out as a Rickroll, which is interrupted by or segues into a different obnoxious meme.
The Counter-Post-Reverse Rickroll: Tricking someone into thinking you’re trying to trick them into believing they’re about to be Rickrolled, then reverse Rickrolling them anyway. (Extended variants of this type are omitted for brevity.)
The Pseudoroll: Linking to a different song by Rick Astley.
Yeah, hey, wait a minute, can someone explain to me why not liking the Jem movie because it was poorly written and believing that it’s part of some Illuminati mission to not give girls superheroes is okay, but not liking the Powerpuff Girls reboot if it’s poorly written and sends bad messages to girls is somehow this terrible, horrible thing that gets you called a hater? I’m so confused.
D.va is 19 years old and she left home to fight for her country and risk her life and she knows how to Pilot a mech suit that she even made it to be customized to her own taste without worrying that people will judge her for being “childish” and even has the mental energy to livestream her all during this
meanwhile here I am 1 year younger making noodles at 2:45am
In all fairness, it’s also in the future when that kind of thing was somewhat expected from people with such skills and coordination.
tbh I’d love a horror-comedy about a retail worker accidentally becoming a ghost/demon hunter because they’re just so unfazed by difficult and weird and bellicose customers that evil entities aren’t much more of a challenge.
“sir or ma'am or neuter, I’m going to have to ask you to stop crawling on the ceiling, you’re disturbing the other residents”
“please leave this place before I call the exorcist to remove you from the premises”
“company policy forbids me from accepting power from customers in exchange for my soul or firstborn child”
“sir, if you keep speaking to me like that, I’m going to have to end this spirit board conversation. have a good day, goodbye”
the walls start weeping blood. our hero gives a long-suffering sigh, walks away, comes back with a wheelie mop bucket and biohazard gloves. hey, it’s better than bathrooms on the overnight shift, at least blood’s not smelly when it’s fresh.
After facing Karen of the Many Coupons and Screaming Children, Asgortoh the Reaper of the Damned is no contest.
Can…can I write this? Can this be a thing I do? Comic or otherwise? I kinda love the idea of it. Maybe the retail worker decided to get a chill grounds keeping job in a cemetery and stuff? I wanna do it.

Neurotypical Person: “Applied Behavioral Analysis really helped him. He doesn’t even seem autistic anymore. We can go places without people asking what’s wrong with him. Caring for him is a lot less of a burden than it used to be.”
Autistic Person: “Applied Behavioral Analysis traumatized me. I have to constantly put all my effort into pretending to not be autistic, even if I’m around people who would accept me for who I am. I can’t tell the difference between someone calling me out for hurting them and someone bullying me for being weird, because I’m used to everything I do being criticized. I’m easily abused because I’ve been conditioned to not say no and to care more about other people’s feelings than about myself. But no one realizes this, because everyone listens to the neurotypical person’s opinion instead.”
