Theory: the reason that none of the Death Stranding trailers have given any hint of what the actual gameplay is going to look like - to the extent that we can’t even speculate what genre of game it is - is that it’s part of a genre that’s historically been unpopular with North America’s mainstream gaming public, and they want to build up as much hype as possible to offset the potential backlash when they reveal that it’s actually a dating sim.
If you don’t fight fascism, if you give it a platform, if you allow it to organize, if you remain neutral in the fight against fascism the you have completely betrayed those whom the fascists seek to oppress. You have betrayed them and you have sided with fascism.
This isn’t a fucking game and you don’t get to pretend that those who are trying to defend themselves against violence and oppression are as poisonous as those who are endeavoring to oppress them. You’ve either learned nothing from history or you haven’t got a damn lick of morality in you. Don’t like fascism? Fucking do something. This scene still breaks my heart each and every single time I watch it.
Azula was a terrible, horrible person. She would have set the world aflame and laughed over the broken carcass of her brother.
But she was fourteen.
She was so ruined and twisted by her childhood and by her nation, driven to insanity by the expectations placed upon her.
Azula was bad and yet I can’t help but feel so terribly sorry for her.
“I don’t have sob stories like all of you.”

actually, i think one of the shows strengths is that they didn’t shy away from what a horrible tragedy this was. even though she was clearly a villain and did unspeakably awful things, this scene was still framed as sad. there was no celebrating- they just look at her sadly.
the music for the battle that leads up to this moment is sad too- it’s an epic battle, visually probably one of the biggest things done in the entire series, and they could have played it with thumping, energetic, dangerous music. but instead it’s quiet and somber. because the whole scenario is heartbreaking, and they know it.
i think the fact that a kid’s show had so much respect for it’s viewers and their ability to understand the complexity of this situation is what makes avatar great.
This is why I get mad when people excuse shows for being stupid because they’re kid shows. Because Avatar is a kids show and it handles these things fantastically and do generalize kid shows as stupid or lazy is just awful. Kids shows are some of the smartest shows I’ve ever seen.
