Between this Starbucks “protest” and Hamilton “protest”, I am convinced that the majority of the people who make up the far right have been so sheltered from the concept of not having rights that they literally don’t know how to fight for them.
This is a legitimate phenomenon. Sheltered, privileged people perceive slight annoyances such as a traffic jam or a change in coffee cups as serious issues simply because they rarely ever suffer in their highly comfortable, secure lives.
They have little sympathy for people who have real issues like lack of food, safety and warmth simply because they get riled at such tiny issues in their pampered lives. It’s let them eat cake for the modern age (even if Marie A didn’t historically say that) The idea of discrimination is so alien to them that it’s almost impossible to explain in a way that they can understand.
