So I know Jontron is pretty much an ass at this point but I do still find some of his older stuff funny, and those jokes are still part of my life
Like when I do something that I find scary I hold out my hands like I’m carrying a sword and go “I’m a brave boy”
I don’t follow him anymore and I recognize that he’s pretty stinkin’ problematic, but damn, he was still pretty funny
It is possible to separate the content from a problematic creator. I love the Cthulhu mythos despite knowing quite well that H.P.Lovecraft was bigoted in many ways.
Knowledge of the creator may tinge his creations, understandably so, but part of what you’re celebrating is your experience of the art, the memories you created, and those are unimpeachably yours.
Even if you disagree with a person’s views, their content is a separate entity in and of itself. Unless somehow they merge their views and content into one entity, then and only then can a person decide whether to watch or not.
tbh age-old entities who are constantly solemn and mysterious are OUT… give me hundreds of year old beings who are constantly grinning and cracking jokes abt having existed for centuries. the ones who’ll happily, unabashedly tell you their life story, w/o even being prompted, if they’re drunk enough at yr local bar or diner on a friday night. those are in
