If I read one more fic where they write sokka as stupid and, if it’s a modern au, getting bad grades in a hard class (especially STEM) or not succeeding at school, I’m gonna LOSE IT. This goes for shitposts too!! HE LITERALLY HELPED DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO CONTROL HOT AIR BALLOONS AND CAME UP WITH COMPLEX BATTLE PLANS AND UNDERSTOOD ASTRONOMY. Stop writing Sokka like this. Sokka isn’t the kid who struggles in classes. Sokka is the straight A student who all the teachers love that will give you a detailed explanation of the rationale behind some obscure physics theory, then ask how much you’d pay him to eat a hamburger bun off the ground in the same breath
sometimes i just want to laugh at how absurd everything is. like, jeff bezos has enough money to literally end the war in yemen. he could literally end it. nearly any celebrity in the world has the money to fix the flint water crisis. like there is a handful of rich people who, if they just put their money where their fucking mouths were, could solve so many problems. but they dont!!! they just buy another house, or a car, or a company where they don’t pay their workers fair wages so they can get richer. it’s just!!!!!!! sometimes i want to laugh bc it’s so absurd and this is why we say eat the rich.
How exactly do you buy the end of a war?
i put it simply for the sake of example, but for instance. you look at the people suffering, you look at their needs, you look at ways to mitigate between the warring parties. you look at underlying reasons for conflict (such as water access), you look at the standard of living. the UN is currently asking for $2.41 billion of aid money to help yemen. jeff bezos could personally provide that and much more without making even a dent in his disgusting wealth. ending a war yes takes so much more than money, but having the money and thus ability to truly help people who are suffering, to raise the quality of life, to provide food and water and medicine… that will go a long way to ending the conflict.
