I saw Zootopia last night and as I drove home all I could think about was how the hell the police investigated crime that took place in habitats designed for smaller animals.
Like their smallest recruit literally towers over the citizens of the rodent habitat. What the fuck is a polar bear going to do if a vole gets murdered? Forget all of the fine tools needed to dust for prints, does the poor grieving widow vole now have to deal with being homeless because the only way the ZPD could photograph the crime scene was to literally rip her roof off?
I bet you that’s why the mafia is a literal rat pack and a shrew is the most feared crime boss in town. Who else is going to protect your gaggle of little adorable hamster children when your businesshamster husband gets caught cooking the books to try and pay off his hamster gambling debt and some guinea pig bookie comes to literally shake your family down for the cash?
People in the notes are upset about “humanizing GWB” lmao
Important to note that he’s painting a series of portraits of veterans who were injured carrying out his orders in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of an art therapy program.
Today something awful happened at the sanctuary (Midwest Avian Adoption and Rescue Services). A car slammed into the walls of the room with the cockatoos, smashing into the cage of Cowboy, the sweetest Moluccan Cockatoo you will ever meet, while he was still inside. Thankfully, due to the quick action of a volunteer, Cowboy is unharmed. However, the car also damaged a gas pipe in the wall which started leaking gas throughout the building. All of the birds managed to be safely evacuated and no one has shown signs of illness from the gas. We are incredibly lucky that everyone is alright. There are so many birds and so many cages that needed to be moved quickly.
Two of the rooms have been deemed as structurally unstable. Although the gas leak has been fixed, we can’t use much of the space that we need and so we’ve had to Tetris the cages back inside. It is going to be very expensive to repair this damage. The driver of the vehicle drove off immediately, but we do have a license plate number so I hope the perpetrator is caught. We are asking for as much help as we can get here. These birds are so incredibly important to all of us. They are our family.
If you have anything, even the smallest amount, please consider donating. If you are unable, please signal boost to those who can.
(^only some of our large numbered flock)
It is important to note here that we are not looking for homes for these birds, even though all the offers are greatly appreciated. Despite the name, this is a permanent sanctuary for all the birds here, most of whom are special needs.
