Eighteen years ago I had a big, heavy, clunky, grey-brown computer that got download speeds of about 15k per second out where we lived. It would take up to a dozen tries to connect to the internet, each time going through a half a minute of buzzing and grinding noises. Sometimes these would “hiccup” and become an infinite loop until you forcefully interrupted them and started again. The connection would frequently drop for no obvious reason and you would have to repeat the process. Accidentally clicking too intensive a webpage could freeze the computer or give it the blue screen of death. If you wanted to watch a flash cartoon, you left it loading all evening and prayed nothing went horribly wrong while you weren’t looking.
Now I have a wallet-sized phone that is also a computer that generates unlimited wireless internet wherever I am, it can instantly show me an entire movie and it thinks pokemon are real
