In Greg the Babysitter, Vidalia’s babysitter can’t work because of a “death in the family” (which is revealed to be a hamster).
Vidalia also mentions that this babysitter is 12 years old at the time, which means they’re about 12-13 years older than Sour Cream. If Sour Cream is currently somewhere between 15-18, this would mean the babysitter is currently in their late 20s, early 30s. Most people in the show are either “parent age” (Greg, Vidalia, Mayor Dewey), “teen age” (Sadie, Cool Kids, Ronaldo), or “kids age” (Connie, Onion, Petey). This leaves but one option:
Which leads me to the most important fact in the entire show: Jamie the Mailman used to have a hamster.
Theater is Jamie’s life. As a former drama geek myself I guarantee we’re exactly the type of person who’d go into a full mourning period over a hamster.
It’s speculated that baby Sour Cream inspired Rose to create Steven.
Everything that’s happened in this show happened because Jamie’s hamster died.
lauren deleted her twitter earlier due to harassment from fans over shipping (not about the leaks btw). most of it stemmed from her support for ships in the show, particularly in her episodes, despite this being an attempt to give representation to young gay people. she was also accused of queerbaiting with both amedot and lapidot, despite being gay herself and speaking openly about her intent for positive representation. it was basically a silly ship debate that got out of control and ended up like this.
her last message before deleting was about how she and all writers should be treated like human beings. it’s really sad to see her go like that but i still look forward to her future episodes and hope she’s doing okay, everyone feel free to send her some love and support through tumblr fanmail or text posts if possible! she’s an amazing artist, writer and boarder, and works amazingly with hilary to produce some of the best and funniest episodes of the show!
i want us all to focus on her amazing work, rather than the things that tore people apart and lead to this. that being said it’d be great if we could send out some apology posts for our behavior as a fandom, she and all the crew deserve so much better!!! thanks everyone
