In the 1950s, there was a stray dog that
hung around Tennessee Tech University.
According to legend, a former university
president said “dammit!” to the dog in
front of a crowd and claimed it was the
dog’s name to cover his mistake. Dammit
now has his own headstone on campus,
right next to a working fire hydrant. Source
