Not every family has love. You are under no obligation to love them, especially if they were horrible.
You can call what you like, but it isn’t bullshit. In this case it is a post towards people that experienced it, and this poster was stating their lack of understanding as to why. For those families that do have love at their core, forgiveness comes with times and action, for those that do not, redemption is a path to be forged either by those that did or not. I did not pick and choose my brother, and had it my wish, and how he is now, I would never want such. That being said, I do not do what I do out of malice, love is not to gloss over the flaws of family.
I don’t think the new generation will ever understand this, nor do I expect it, but people are not static, they are a mixture of experiences, which changes them for the good or the worse depending on circumstances. Those experiences, if family has the heart to do, while destructive at their time, does not define them in entirety, nor denies them from the path of redemption to take. And if we went by your reasoning, I would have never found a path of peace that reconciled my father and aunts from the loss of my mum. I would never find that resolve to strengthen my family and my choices thereof.
Be that as it may, would you risk letting am abuser back into your life because you have similar blood?
