A guy who tried to kill a bunch of people and was stopped isn’t going to get anywhere near as much media attention as a guy who successfully killed over 50 people and injured about 50 more, and race doesn’t have a single goddamn thing to do with it.

Please don’t detract from what’s important by bringing race or religion into this because neither of these were about those. The fact of the matter was that both of these people managed to get their hands on many weapons and were targeting the LGBT community. If you keep detracting from that by making this about race or religion then you’re no better than trump who was congratulating himself for his islamphobia.

I want bigots to feel unsafe expressing their bigoted views. I want people to feel like their social circle and family will judge them, I want them to feel like they might lose their job and face financial ruin.
I want the world to be very unsafe and unwelcoming to those who’s “views” undermine the safety and existence of other people.
So don’t tell me not to fight fire with fire, I WANT to burn this shit down. I want to have so much pre-emptive and reactionary hatred for bigots that they feel unsafe, that they taste just a little of what their hatred brings to the lives of others.
I don’t want to Mother Theresa people, I don’t want to hold hands, sing kumbaya and guide people see my viewpoint. I want to create a world where their bigoted viewpoints are seen as inherently disgusting and these kinds of people are pushed to the fringe of society and we all view them with scorn.
I don’t need to change, people don’t need to change who they fundamentally are to fit into the world of a bigot and we don’t need to earth mother this bullshit and lead them there on a cloud of endless patience and internalised screaming.
So I’ll fight hate with hate, fire with fire, I’ll hate every bigot with passion and set fire to the very institutions that shelter them and take pleasure in salting the goddamn Earth with their tears.
It’s ironic that by doing exactly what you are describing makes you appear as a condescending bigot. You don’t make a difference, you make punchlines.

If your views jeopardise the lives and safety of other people you damn RIGHT I’m going to be intolerant, of course I’ll hate you. You’re a piece of shit and you make the world a more terrible place just by existing in it.
You can fight fire with fire, it’s called a firebreak. You can also drown fire with water, or smother fire with sand, or stomp fire out.

there’s a difference between being completely done with bigots and people actually killing us. we have every right to be pissed. we have every right to be absolutely done. We have every right to make homophobes uncomfortable by lumping them with in the same group as the homophobe who killed all our people. To every bigot out ther, we will stop being pissed and making you feel bad for shit when you stop killing us. We won’t stop until we are actually truly safe.
i’m so so sad for other lgbt people (especially youth) who were excited to go their first pride this year and are now terrified to go or are cancelling their plans. i’m sorry that these spaces were taken from you before you could really use them. i’m so sorry that avoiding safe spaces has become a survival tactic.
