DID YOU ALL FORGET THE FACT THAT THESE CHARACTERS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE EQUIVALENT OF THEIR WORLD’S GERMANS! And the Ishvalans are Arabic (Though you could make the claim they’re culture is arabic, while their history is based off those who suffered during japanese imperialism)!?

The main characters have German names. The country they live in is inspired by Europe. Also, the 2003 anime, while not 100% accurate to the manga writers intents, did actually go so far as to make a movie where they traveled to a parrallel world with Nazi Germany.

Amestris is even shaped like the Weimar Republic, and their enemies to the north are based off Russians, even down to the harsh winters!

The closest the characters ever get to being traditionally Asian is the characters from Xing, which are actually more Chinese in culture. So saying the Xing are japanese is actually pretty narrow minded and offensive.
