I’m very glad that movies like Pacific Rim and Fury Road and The Force Awakens are as colorful as they are, because I am really, really tired of desaturated movies.

As you pointed out, you know this is normal.
Some people see the update, remember they follow you…but also realize they aren’t that interested anymore and unfollow. And so updates sometimes come with a drop in follower count.
