A funny thing about introducing a new queen into a hive that has lost its queen (or one that you’ve killed because her brood was too fighty).
You have to introduce the new queen into the hive with these special queen cages that are stopped up with candy, and are open enough to let the hive smell the new queen, but not open enough that they can get in there and kill her.
Because they will kill her.
When you first put the new queen in she smells like an intruder, but by the time it takes the bees to eat through the candy and free the queen, the queen’s pheromones will have had time to work and the hive will have gotten used to her.
From the outside this kinda seems like:
“Yeh, we were all going to murder you to death before, but we’re full of candy now, so we’re cool. Oh yeh, and how about you be the new queen and stuff. Yeh, that’s cool too.”
beekeeping is really weird
Listen, strange bee queens lyin’ in cages distributin’ candy is no basis for a system of government.
like half the fish ur reblogging are glassfish that have been injected with fluorescent dyes its a fucked up and cruel practice lol
a lot of times it’s hard to say especially when you don’t know much about fish so like here are the main culprits
“painted” Glass fish
these little guys are known naturally for their translucency, but breeders have taken to injecting fluorescent dyes into them, which leads to major health complications, infections, and an early death
this is how they naturally look
“dyed” Parrot fish
this dyed look is achieved by dipping the fish into literal dye, stripping them of their slimecoat and burning the coloured chemicals into their bodies, parrot fish are a disaster of hybridization anyway, this is just icing on the cake of hell for them
this is what they look like naturally
“tattooed” mollies / parrotfish
this is administered either with a syringe full of dye or a literal laser that damages the fish’s scales like honestly they’re not even trying to hide this as a “naturally bred-in feature” they just straight up tattoo these fucking fish
so yeah, bottom line, if you see “”aesthetic”” images with fish similar to the ones above; they are the subjects of animal abuse, they’re not naturally like that, they’re scarred for profit and allowing their existence to go uncriticized is to be complacent in the continuing of these inhumane practices
shout out to my fave under-appreciated unbreakable transgender hero
The thing that gets me is he didn’t ASK for the impenetrable skin. Poseidon was just like “cool cool but you know what you need? skin of IRON. don’t worry bud it’s on the house”
