So, in Zootopia (which is awesome), we meet these two guys named Bucky and Pronk. They get this one walk-by and then a funny scene later as Judy’s obnoxious eavesdropping neighbors. I just assumed they were a couple of college students or something.
Here’s the thing about these guys, though: They have the same last name.
Now, despite being similar, the Oryx-Antlersons (who, incidentally, are played by the film’s director and screenwriter) aren’t the same species; one’s an oryx and one’s a kudu. So, what are the options here? Either this weird hyphenate is somehow a really common last name for antelopes, they’re brothers by adoption, or they’re married.
Friendly reminder that it’s okay to like things that are “meant for kids”, no matter how old you are. It’s okay to collect or play with toys, watch animated movies and cartoons, and enjoy coloring or playing outside. You are lucky that the adult world has not made you cold and lifeless and that you enjoy the simple pleasures that made you happy long before. Why should they not make you happy now?
pearl’s hair, whether intentional or not, is shaped like a rosebud, which is obviously very fitting narratively
sadie gets a gash on her face in “Island Adventure” and the scar stays for the rest of the series as part of her permenant design
Sardonyx has a very cool insect motif; the concept art refers to her as ‘cricket-like’, with six limbs, long legs, glasses that look like compound eyes, and a suit tail that looks like a pair of cricket’s wings, in addition to the much more obvious dragonflies that appear with her
On top of that, her eyes overlap with her hair with the concept apparently being that her eyes are actually on her glasses rather than her face (I’m also really fond of how they basically serve as eyebrows expression wise - same goes for malachite)
Peridot blushes blue underneath her visors. We don’t actually know what color her eyes are
some other more basic things i really love:
Pearl is very lanky and awkward looking in theory (she has a big nose, feet, and hands) but is presented as graceful
Garnet is very bulky and solid looking, apart from her arms, which are as thin as pearl’s. It’s very nice contrast
Amethyst’s knees (and later, her shirt) being ripped is a very nice touch and goes with what i said earlier about her being a very good example of rare asymmetry in character design
Steven’s star eyes,, but i mean. who doesn’t love those
The color schemes they use to shade peridot are very nice (I can’t find a picture but they use blue for shadows and yellow for lights, rather than just different shades of green)
