each time del toro makes a comment like “ill do anything kojima wants” or “ill follow him to the end of the earth” im like

holy fuck he did it

kojima really has become the big boss of the games industry

>started out as just a lowly member of his organization before attracting personal devotees around the world through his deeds and reputation
>abandoned and betrayed by his parent company Konami (his home country, if you will)
>created his own independent “nation” not beholden to anyone (the new Kojima Productions with no meddling oversight from Sony)

holy shit he really did

All that’s left is for Konami to realize how bad they fucked up and attempt to recreate their own Hideo Kojima through cloning and/or special training.

One thing I’ve noticed about fandoms is that the more messed up the source material is, the nicer the fandom tends to be. Like, I’ve never seen a South Park fan tell anyone to kill themselves. But draw Rose Quartz’s arm skinnier than certain people in the Steven Universe fandom think it should be? Prepare your anus, because soon there’ll be people stuffing 40 receipt blogs up there.

Not saying everyone in the fandom is like that, but it’s a serious problem

This is definitely a thing I noticed as well, and it’s very interesting indeed

It also gets worse the bigger the fandom is.

How do you never hear about fandoms that come from the worse material? LIke you never hear many people from fandoms that have sick and twisted source material. Yet fandoms where the source material is rainbows and sunshine you always hear about how they are doing something stupid or vile.

Though, I’m sure part of which comes from rainbow and sunshine shows / materal tend to attract younger viewers who don’t think before they do stupid shit.

I actually saw a post about something similar to this where it was called an “Umbridge Effect,” I think.

Basically, vile people like cutesy things because it makes them seem not as vile… or something like that?

Pah, I can’t remember.

very interesting! i’ve seen something similar (but not fandom-related) involving some people who bike or use eco-friendly cars or eat vegan/vegetarian, etc etc i’m sure you get the point. Whether they feel that because of these small “good deeds” they are now morally superior to all us mere mortals, or that it means they get a free pass to be an asshole, or even some combination of both of them i’m not entirely squared on, but this fandom nonsense seems like it could be a good insight into that same phenomenon?

I’ve noticed too

there are some right ass hats in the mlp fandoms
but  in the horror / elm st. fandom ive generally only met nice , decent people.
