Even if it wasn’t around since shakespere, the “english won’t change” is a stupid argument because english is literally always changing and words always take on new meanings. I mean, before 2016, dab was a small quantity, now it’s a specific pose. up until the late 1900s, sick only had one meaning, now it can also mean awesome. Even if they wasn’t a singular pronoun hundreds of years ago, there is absolutely no reason it can’t be singular today.
