We have identified the Lapis silhouette within The Answer. Apart from indicating that she’s a member of the Blue Diamond court (and likely a prominent and rare member, judging by her “Do you know who I am?!” when talking to the Crystal Gems) it’s interesting to note that you don’t actually see her much as a representation of the court as a negative force.
She appears as the Sapphire and Rubies pass through the Court:
But not when the Court advances on the mixed gem fusion threateningly, nor in the battle with the rebels. Or even when the court advances on Ruby again, after the judgement is delivered and Sapphire grabs her to run.
Lapis also appears when Blue Diamond delivers her judgement (Although very far back and her expression is wide eyed, unlike some gems which appear more angry and threatening)
So it’s good to know that Lapis isn’t being directly implicated in the anti-fusion responses of the Blue Diamond court (Although it’s naive to assume she didn’t share them). It’s also interesting to note that she’s close to Blue Diamond - perhaps a signifier of her position as Blue Diamonds’ right-hand gem? It’s fun to think about!
Blue diamond wasn’t shocked. She was mad. “You dare fuse with a member of my court.” That’s not someone who just found out two different gems could fuse, that’s someone who is pissed that it happened with a gem as rare as Sapphire.
