Idk man, a widowed father who works full time and lives in his car so he can afford to keep his child fed while he lives with his aunts, who still makes time to see his kid every day, and who is possibly the only family member that child has who has not implicitly or explicitly wished in front of him that his mother had survived instead of him, fostering an intense survivor’s guilt in him where he feels like his loved ones blame him for the death of his mother
I just don’t see how people have ever managed to call Greg Universe a deadbeat, I mean, the one time the dude did a mildly bad thing is when he lied about being hurt so he could spend more time with Steven who he felt was drifting away from him, and even then he copped to it and apologized. His sole concern as a character in the entire show is taking care of and being there for his kid, he’s honestly one of the best dads on TV and I think it’s sad that people act like he’s a shitty father because he’s poor and spends what little available time and money he has on his son who he loves more than anything

So I’m a manager at McHell. I know manager. Grr. Argh. I get it. We’re a 24/7 place but our lobby closes at night. Anyways last night around 10 minutes till close an older woman and her daughter walk in. As one of my employees was taking their order I made sure to communicate that our lobby would be closing in 10 minutes and they would have to leave then. The older woman acknowledged me with an eye roll.
So at close I send one of the teens to tell the few customers (the mother daughter pair included) that it’s closing time. He comes back and tells me that everyone has left and the mother daughter pair said they’d be done in a few seconds.
Now I send one of my other employees out to clean the lobby. She’s one of my favorites. She’s sixteen and a sweetheart who can work every position in the store easily and has GREAT customer service skills. She’s doing her thing and see the mother daughter pair still just casually eating their food. Not know that they’ve already been informed it’s time to go, she very politely tells them we have to have everyone out of our lobby at close.
And then all hell breaks lose. The older woman starts yelling and slamming her tray around. She starts to storm to the door and my employee almost trips getting out of her way and drops the mop on accident. It doesn’t hit the woman at all, just falls to the floor next to her. She starts SCREAMING now that my employee threw a mop at her.
I’m back in the office counting my deposit, but I can hear all the commotion going on, so I book it up front to try and get a cap on the situation. After my employee explains what is going on to me (while the woman is still screaming mind you) I turn on her and tell her in my Strict But Still Polite Manager Voice™ that she needs to A. Calm down and stop yelling and B. Leave the premises immediately.
This is where shit really hits the fan, because customers expect me, as the manager to bend over and give them anything they want. So she loses her shit and makes the FATAL mistake of threatening my employee. My sweet 16 year old employee who is a ray of fucking sunshine. First she says that she’ll be waiting outside for her and then warns for the girl to watch her back because she knows where she works.
Now this is the last fucking straw because I am something of a Momma Bear manager, especially with the high schoolers. I’m pissed so I punch the silent panic button security watch thingy I’ve got strapped around my wrist (they’re fancy as fuck) and just wait. Less than two minutes later as I’m explaining to this woman that she is banned from not only our store but every store within ten miles of us (franchises rock sometimes) two cops pull into the parking lot, lights and sirens in full effect. I was very happy to see that woman taken into custody for a range of offences from Creating A Public Disturbance to Intent to Commit Bodily Harm to a Minor.
