Calling my bluff when I tell you the emergency register is broken does not mean I need to stop monitoring the service floor and ring you out.
I say it’s broken because that’s easier to explain than “corporate is going to fire me if I step away from my post to ring you out.” Because if they’re enough of an ass to hassle me about the emergency register, they certaintly don’t care about my job security.
