That was a seriously fucked up manipulation tactic right there.
This whole thing was what is known as ‘passive aggression’. It’s one of the hardest forms of abuse to deal with because it’s purpose is to trap people in to feelings of guilt while deflecting the problem from the aggressor.
Let me explain, now that that person is blocked.
First, the bait:
“It must be so hard being popular and drawing pastel ponies for a living.”
This is a statement that has been worded in just a way to be condescending but questionable to its intent.
“But you also said that some people get popular without trying? What’s the truth, then?”
Purposefully manipulating words and phrases in to different meanings.
You say that you are not obligated to be nice to anyone- and indeed! You are not!
Manipulation 101: Devil’s advocate.
I’m not being condescending, I’m trying to understand the hypocrisy.
Detaching yourself from the accusation and then making a condescending comment in the same sentence to cause confusion and trap the person from giving a response. Calling someone a hypocrite is in fact condescending.
And I am only talking to you how you talk to anyone who is not a friend.
Lessening the blow by saying ‘I’m only doing such and such’ as if it’s not as big of a deal is a subtle passive aggressive way to put the blame on the other person.
That still doesn’t excuse the fact that every time someone so much as disagrees with you, you will drag out the argument, refusing to give up so you can have the last word, practically bullying them into submission, sometimes over things that didn’t even warrant an argument.
The irony here is that this person is doing exactly what they’re accusing with, proof of that later when they were asked to stop:
I know I said I would leave, but after that post I leave one last ask.
Now looking back again.
I fail to see how simply asking for answers and asking for explanations on examples of some of your behavior is bullying
More purposeful attempts to lessen the issue. ‘Oh I was simply just doing this, YOU’RE the one making a big deal out of it’, essentially.
Just keep in mind that you yourself have stated that-
Gross. This is basically personalizing issues, misconstruing words, and using peoples own words against them to validate your points.
But if painting me as the villain and going back and editing your posts helps you sleep at night, all the power to you.
And typical of passive aggressive manipulation, the “Great, now I’M the bad guy!” argument.
Like holy shit that’s some Mother Gothel shit right there.
Don’t let these kind of people corner you.
Seriously, it’s gross it’s uncomfortable, and I know it’s hard to stand up to them because they’re very VERY good at deflecting and putting it on you, but be aware this is not kindness in any definition of the word.
This is straight up passive aggression, and clearly has only malice as intent.
…… im going to go hide in a corner I hate myself so much right now.
I hate it because i know i do this kind of shit without realizing it until I look ot over later…..
Some people can’t help it and it’s usually used out of inner anger and insecurity and the lack of ability to express yourself honestly growing up. That’s usually the case that leads to it, at least. Because when you can’t express anger or other negative emotions, passive aggression becomes your only defense.
Being aware of it is the first step to trying to fix it. It can be helped, you just need to get in the habit of interacting with people who encourage honesty and allow you to vent freely without judgement. As long as you have the empathy to understand how it affects others, you can absolutely fix it.
stop spreading the idea that dysphoria is internalized “cissexism”. if you’re sex dysphoric it honestly doesn’t make much of a difference whether or not somebody calls your body male or female because the issue is with your sex characteristics, not the words used to describe them.
DONT ASK ME THIS, THIS IS HOW THE TROJAN WAR STARTED, I DONT WANT THIS MAN
Right away, Aphrodite popped into my head.
And then I’m just like, “DAMMIT, DID YOU LEARN NOTHING FROM PARIS? YOU ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT, AND NOW ALL THE TROJANS ARE DEAD. I HOPE YOU’RE HAPPY.”
If you are ever actually in this situation, pro-tip: name Persephone. Half the goddesses will be too surprised to smite you immediately and while Hades won’t do you any favors he may at least high-five you while your on your way down.
Another tip: name Mesperyian. Not only will you shock everyone, including her (since Aphrodite was a jealous ho who burnt half her face off), but you’ll win Hades’ favour. As his most beloved daughter, anything that praises her will make you a kind human to her, an okay human to him, and a genuinely good person to anyone else.
I heartily endorse this alternative answer.
I love how all of this advice leads to “please Hades at all costs.”
I would say persephone. I would win over the favour of hades and demeter. Also, hades is pretty chill, he would let people just leave if persephone wasn’t there. Persephone is the real ruler of the underworld.
Someone should write a book with multiple perspectives, where in one, it’s like a john greenesque story about some teens in love reading about/seeing media casually mentioning the horror occurring but like. They’re just being bland and going to school and having adventures. And in the other it’s teens in love, but everything is terrible and they’re like “the whole world has gone to shit! It’s the end of days!!!” because they don’t know that it’s only them. Kind of like in 28 days later but more sad.
And the oppressed teens could spend the whole time trying to escape the dystopia (while the other teens fight about prom or something)
and when they do finally get free at the end, the oppressed teens can like, casually bump into the other teens at like idk the grocery store or something.
And the two worlds can come together to form some sort of real life lesson like “don’t make fun of North Korea this is actually their situation– and look how shit we look whenever we make light of it.” Or something.
Idk.
Oh it can get a lot worse. What if the remaining government convinces that the whole world is dystopian and staying within the country is the best option and through selective censorship, the population don’t know any better.
Okay but the ice cream went to Marian’s stomach right? Shouldn’t her stomach have been frozen? Because when Elsa struck Anna that one time in the head it didn’t hurt her heart. So was the Snow Queen casting a spell on that cone like “This cones gonna taste fantastic but give you hella heart freeze.”
Well The Snow Queen was more skilled and ice magic than Elsa was so she could very easily cast a spell that once consumed targets the person’s heart
