How to tell a fake YouTube account from a real one.
Dunno why I decided to do this, but I`ve noticed some helpful ways to tell if a YouTube channel is fake or not, so hopefully they`ll help other people… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, eh it might…anyways…
First up is the Verification tick/check.
Ok so this is literally the BIGGEST give away to whether a channel is real or not.
So here is PewDiePie`s real account (Notice the small tick/check beside his username)
And here are two fake accounts (with a lack of the tick/check)
(Oh and the amount of videos and subscribers should be a dead give away)
Next up is the comments, the easiest way to tell if the comment on a video is from the real youtuber is if the username is highlighted (The highlighting however Only happens when they comment on their OWN video, not someone else’s.
As an example, here`s PewDiePie replying to a comment on one of his vids.
Then there`s the about section, the first thing to look at is the date they joined…
so here`s the joined date from Markiplier`s real account
and here the date from a fake account
(Basically the real accounts dates will be older than the fake ones)
Then there`s a really big give away, the makers of the fake accounts are very unlikely to be fans of the youtuber they are attempting to steal views from (cause if you like art, you`re not gonna steal the Mona Lisa), so they`re bluff can be called quite quickly, since they have no interest in the youtuber they just copy and paste stuff and leave their screen capture on to copy the videos.
And surprisingly not being a fan means a lack of attention to detail such as, if you look at JackSepticEyes real account or are a fan you`ll know he`s Irish, but a fake account I came across listed his country as America (That is some quality channel copying right there) luckily though the fake channel has actually been closed down due to being flagged for copying another channels stuff (Serves them right :P)
Final piece of advice, if you come across the fake accounts, DO NOT COMMENT ON THEIR VIDEOS(They are getting attention when you do that, you are giving them EXACTLY what they want) DON`T LIKE OR DISLIKE THEIR VIDEOS(Wait, why the hell would you like them? it`s still more attention for them no matter how positive or negative).
IN FACT DON`T EVEN WATCH THEIR FAKE VIDEO, MOST OF THEM ARE GETTING PAID IF YOU WATCH THE VIDEO FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME(or something like that) THE LITTLE FUCKERS CAN GET PAID FOR IT, SO JUST FLAG THAT SHIT, LEAVE THE FAKE VIDEO AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AND GO WATCH THE REAL YOUTUBERS WHO DESERVE YOUR VIEWS MORE!.

(Oh and if anyone asks why I used Pewds,Mark and Jack as my 3 examples, it`s cause they have active fanbases on tumblr so people will have a higher chance of seeing this, oh and I freaking love those guys :D )
Good post! I just had to report 4 fake channels of me that uploaded the FNAF 4 footage already. One of the fake channels I got removed recently had 32 million views across all videos which is ridiculous for a fake. It also took 9 reports to get it removed too.
Youtube is in a very bad way with fakes right now and I really hope it’s stamped out soon
