I can’t think of a single example of him cheating people with his deals. Do people usually like his deals? No. Do they sometimes not realize the cost? Yes but he always makes sure they know making the deal is a bad idea and it will cost them.
The basic rundown of ever deal is this:
Person: I want the thing.
Rum: Then go out and get the thing.
Person: You do it for me.
Rum: You don’t want that really. It will cost something you do’t want to pay.
Person: I don’t care about the cost, do the things.
Rum: *does the thing*
Rum: *comes back for the price*
Person: You’re a bastard and I don’t wanna play this game anymore.
I’ll add two more lines to this very accurate description of what happens.
Person: I don’t care about the cost, do the things.
Rum: (Presents contract.) This legal document explains to you in detail the exact cost of the thing. Still interested?
Person: I don’t need to read the contract! DO THE THINGS!
Rum: *does the thing*….
