hoodiedeer asked: Toby is fine with undertale fanart being sold though (as long as it wasnt like in large quantities, for example someone made a plush of toriel i think and sold it and he was fine with that, as long as they werent sold in a store or something) but I dont really see how that entirely applies to video games? Selling fanart doesnt compete with a dev, you cant play a game on a drawing of a character i dont understand that post much
To be honest, A LOT of people do not seem to understand this post, so Im going to make it very clear whats the problem:
Doing fanart is fine, selling it is ALWAYS illegal. Yes, we are all guilty of this, me including with selling MLP Fanart as an example at Conventions like Gala Con. The big difference is that MLP is a big show of a well payed studio that is selling TONS of merchandise on their own and make a huge amount of profit out of it, regardless if you sell some art based on their show on your own. Fanartists are not a threat to their company since the amount of money you make from their show isnt a huge loss for them and so you are likely to not get into trouble for selling it. They DO have the rights tho to take you down ANYTIME should you ever be a thorn in their side.
NOW, whats the problem with selling fanart based off indie games like undertale or webcomics like avas demon for example ?
OK so, lets say I published my dragon-book and opened up a small shop with official merchandise for it. I am a freelancer Artist and thus every single penny I make out of my work is important for my survival. Now, imagine that someone out there loved my work so much that they NATURALLY, decided to make fanart for it. Thats all fine. But then they thought it would be a great idea for some reason to make profit out of MY idea and sell it online. Fanart of steven universe or gravity falls? No problem. Do you think disney or cartoon network REALLY care about that ONE poster you sold online? But now you are selling fanart of MY work, of MY project, the project of a SINGLE ARTIST and not a huge company. Every single penny you earn out of it is a huge loss on profit for me.
THATSwhy you should not sell fanart based of indie games or other projects of indie artists. They NEED the money YOU make from THEIR work. Feel free to make fanart as much as you want, it is a great way of promoting the original product, whether its a book, comic or game.
But PLEASE, have some respect for indie artists who put YEARS of work into realizing their ideas, and support the OFFICIAL merchandise THEY created INSTEAD of making your own.
I really love how applicable spongebob is to undertale.
Both Napoleon and Hitler invaded Russia in the early summer.
But the Russians were f**king brilliant and essentially retreated further and further into their country, literally causing the troops to chase after them.
This happened for months until the Russian troops burned all of the enemy’s supplies and left them for dead in the frozen countryside.
It was the literal historical equivalent of that one running gag in the old Looney Tunes cartoons where Bugs Bunny cries, “I darest you to step across this line!” and the villain keeps stepping until Bugs leads them to their doom.
So in order for someone to try invading Russia again, you need someone who has the stubbornness and idiocy of an exaggerated Looney Tunes villain.
asgore didnt need the souls of seven human children who happened to fall down and become stuck in the underground in order to become god and bust down the barrier he couldve just taken one and gone through and found some shitlords to take their souls and destroy the barrier or w/e like. he had 6 children killed so he could become god rly slowly instead of seeking out assholes and getting the job done a lot quicker. fuck asgore
He acted all nice to everyone in the underground when eh was the reason they suffered for so long. he’s a coward. He waited because he hoped that he wouldn’t get the chance to do what needed to be done and toriel wasn’t having any of it. Asgore is a coward and a liar.
Also, just because a woman wears revealing cloths doesn’t mean it’s sexist. That’s a very prude thing to say. Shaming someone for wearing revealing cloths is just as sexist as a guy telling woman to wear something more sexy when she doesn’t want to. Cia wasn’t sexist because she was dressing for herself. REVEALING CLOTHS =/= SEXIST If ganon was forcing her to wear the revealing cloths, that would be sexist but she was a solid character so it worked for her.
I got off topic but yeah, whether or not clothing is sexist depends on the reason they wear it and shaming someone for wearing the cloths they want is sexist.
