Perspective on art pricing…

glacierclear:

My teacher was lecturing in class, and we got into the discussion of pricing your art. He talked about how he priced a 30 minute figure drawing, and got a complaint from someone that a drawing that took 30 minutes shouldn’t cost as much as it did, since it only took the time of 30 minutes to create.

He argued that a customer who buys art isn’t just paying for the time put into that art piece, but the time invested over the years in getting to that point. If someone has crafted their art for 30 years, then the customer should pay for that 30 years put into their art. I thought that was a pretty good point, and something people should think about.

You’re not just paying for that singular art piece, but the hours of improvement that the artist has devoted into their art.

I’d rather my taxes go to a working system that supports people rather than giving my money to a flawed system that’s built to fuck me over and make rich people richer

just saying

The reason our economy sucks is because a majority of the wealth isn’t being redistributed. It’s just sitting in banks accumulating more wealth. It’s more like a high score than a currency to the 1%

just-shower-thoughts:

I like how the term “as fuck” is a common unit of measurement.

kaiuchiha15 asked: No, I agree with that. Revamp the war on drugs to make it more efficient and effective

No, don’t revamp it, just stop it all together.

kaiuchiha15 asked: Healthcare ISNT FREE if you're paying a 75% income tax rate. Free doesn't exist!

You wanna talk about a waste of taxpayer money, look at the war on drugs. A government founded movement that spends 51 billion per year and criminalizes people with a serious medical condition. Also to add to that, all the people sent to prison instead of rehabs means prison is always overcrowded and needs more funds furthering wasted taxpayer money. End the war on drugs and start treating addiction like a medical condition and send them to rehab with the newly acquired socialized healthcare. No more crowded prisons and no need to raise taxes.

kaiuchiha15 asked: You know, a right is something that's inherently free. Like the right to free speech, religion, press, etc. healthcare AINT FREE. Neither is a JOB.

There are many countries in which healthcare is free without any negative repercussions and jobs are incredibly difficult to come by if you don’t have a home or experience. It is near impossible for people in poverty to find work. You wanna talk about lazy people taking advantage of the system and making money, look at the 1% who make more in an hour for sitting on their ass than most people do in their life. The reason the economy sucks is because the wealth isn’t being circulated back into the economy. The people holding a majority of the wealth aren’t spending and that’s seriously fucking everything up.

silver-tongues-blog asked: The first five years of my life we rented a mobile home behind a pay less shoe store. Both parents worked and my dad had two jobs to provide for us. We only got lucky. That shouldn't happen to anyone else. People SHOULD be GIVEN the right to a future

jitterbugjive:

We need to work for a better future for our children, one where they wont have to deal with as much discrimination, one where they don’t have to struggle constantly to get by, one where they can have the same opportunities previous generations had that we were denied due to the economy collapsing

Exactly. A future is a right, not a privilege.

kaiuchiha15 asked: You don't know what I've been through, you IDIOT. I've been homeless. I've gone without food for days. I've been picked on specifically because of my race and mental disabilities. I've been beaten. You have NO FUCKING RIGHT to say I'm privileged or don't care about people. I do. What I DON'T CARE FOR are people who want a free handout just because they're too LAZY to do anything on their own. You don't know me, so don't talk like you do.

jitterbugjive:

And you don’t know if I’m not doing anything?

So shut up?

Hey kaiuchiha, imagine someone in the exact situation you were in only now they have a chance at life that doesn’t involve luck. You would think someone who was homeless, starving and beat would want to make sure that it never happened to anyone else but apparently you’re proof that is not the case. Your past does not excuse your present.
