I’m a cast member (employee) at one of the US Disney Parks. Every year when the local anime conventions come into town we have a problem. Cosplayers love to come to the park and try to cosplay in the park.
WE CANNOT ALLOW THIS. WE DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE OVER THE AGE OF 10 IN COSTUME (Except at certain parks halloween parties)
For whatever reason, there are cosplayers who think it’s some kind of badge of honor to get asked to leave. Or, they will pitch a fit and try to get reAds or merch from us for “interrupting their fun.”
Cosplayers have become slick about this. They know they will be turned away at the gate, so they will change in a washroom.
Do you understand WHY we can’t allow this? Intellectual property is one reason. The other? Little kids may not be able to tell that you’re not the real Belle. And what if you’re some creepy who gets off on little kids who decided to dress up as Gaston? And kids are following you around???
Please, get the word out!
Stop coming to the park in costume. Stop bringing your costumes into the park. You may think its awesome that people can’t tell you’re not a Disney employee but it makes it harder on those of us who work there!
And our managers have started arresting people for this! No more comps or reads or “oh, sorry I didn’t know.”
trans men are nonexistent in the media anyway. a movie about a trans man getting low ratings is only going to show hollywood that nobody wants to watch anything about trans men– please please please don’t boycott it
Is there any reason people are boycotting it? You know one that doesn’t make me want to hit my head off a brick wall.
people want to boycott it because a cis girl is playing a trans man– considering there are ZERO professionally trained hollywood-ready trans man actors, and out of a cis girl and a cis man, a cis girl is the much better candidate for playing a pre-everything teenage trans boy; i think that’s an absolutely fine thing. everybody else seems to think it’s blatant transphobia, though. sigh.
Not to mention that even if there were professional “hollywood”-esque transmale actors, most if not all of them would be post-transition or would at the very least be uncomfortable playing a pre-transition transmale; Laverne Cox got her brother to play her pre-transition in OitNB. In terms of accuracy, and I hate to say this, but a cis girl would just visually make sense.
So people are getting up in arms about a girl playing a guy who identifies as being a girl?
this sounds suspiciously like the opening joke to NC’s Jupiter Ascending review
Edit: Got my terms confused
The thing is, having a trans person portraying a trans person would require them to go off hormones which can set them back in transition by years.
yesterday i went to buy something and the store owner looked up and said something to me in chinese and i was so surprised i just said “what” in english and then we stared at each for a full ten seconds like what the fuck we are in spain
Is it any wonder that markiplier keeps relationships secret when people are following him to his home? Just because he’s a YouTube celebrity doesn’t mean he isn’t human. Also, relationships are between two people unless it’s polyamery which Mark isn’t. His relationship is none of your businesses.
