girls who think lesbians are weird but spend their whole day reading gross yaoi fanfiction and crying over their favorite gay otp are just as disgusting as homophobic boys who watch lesbian porn
I believe the phrase is “Never trust a skinny cook.” How can we as consumers trust your vision of an artform if you’ve never experienced the artform?
It’s the same reason any writer will tell you that you HAVE to start out by reading the classics. Learning the rules. What worked, what didn’t, and creating a niche for yourself by experienced what’s come before.
If you don’t even attempt to be a part of the consumer base you’re providing for, how can you expect the consumer to trust your vision as an experience worth their money? What with all your competition perfectly willing to be a part of the culture.
In the light of recent news, I think this quote should say everything.
Take a note from Nintendo, the backbone of the gaming industry since inception. A love for the art will help create the best art. You don’t have to play every game, be a part of the mainstream, but outright shunning the idea of being a gamer? That’s not a sustainable rationale if you have any interest in being an artist, or having a healthy career. You’ll hate every minute with that attitude. Whereas people like Iwata-san will absolutely love the fact they get to be a part of the community AND a content creator.
You know, here’s a good question: if indie devs think that they don’t need to be gamers to develop games, why don’t they just work for the AAA market?
they don’t care about the games they make, so why not just go work for people who don’t care about the medium either? They’d probably get paid more at least
Pearl wasn’t there to hear Jasper call fusion “a cheap tactic to make weak gems stronger”. She didn’t see the forced cluster fusion. So even though she knows what she did was wrong I don’t think she really understands how much it hurt Garnet personally.
The last thing Garnet said before she stopped talking to Pearl was “Peridot is out there somewhere and Pearl’s been distracting us with nothing!” so Pearl thinks if she finds Peridot everything will be okay again, because she thinks the only thing Garnet’s upset about is that they wasted time.
Garnet has every right to be mad but I don’t think she fully understands Pearl’s motivations either. She has a lot of strength and confidence that Pearl doesn’t have so she might not see why Pearl would go through such lengths to form Sardonyx.
Pearl can’t personally identify with being a fusion all the time and Garnet can’t personally identify with how lonely Pearl feels because she’s “never alone”.
So yeah, they really need to talk.
I really like this explination because it’s not trying to justify pearl or garnets actions, it’s just stating why they are doing what they are doing while understanding that what happened was still wrong.
