Me: No one is hiring me

Adults: you’re just not trying hard enough

Me: oh yea, sorry about that. Let me apply “harder” this time. I’ll be sure to write my contact info extra “hard” this time. I’ll make sure to touch up my resume and make it hella “hard” this time around too.

preach

Adults:  You just need to hit the pavement, knock on some doors, call the hiring manager!

Every job application ever:  PLEASE NO UNSOLICITED VISITS OR PHONE CALLS.

Fact: Our reception pool forwards the names of people who call unsolicited on to HR, who puts the names on a DO NOT HIRE, CANNOT FOLLOW DIRECTIONS list.

This is what is the most terrifying about re-beginning the job search.

Fact: My brother was a store manager at AT&T for several years, and handled the hiring process. People that would call and call about the job wouldn’t get hired because, “They seemed to be the kind of people that would constantly need attention on the job, or wouldn’t make a good fit in customer service, because they don’t have the patience to wait for us to call them back.”

Meanwhile I’ve always been taught to do exactly those things because it “shows that you care and take initiative”

^

Exactly, this is all I hear, about how I need to harass and pester businesses, call every single day if needed.

The system has changed, but older people think the rules have stayed the same.

It makes sense for older people to think that way. For them. they grow up in the 60′s and 70′s. Where things didn’t really change. Computers weren’t a big thing everybody had and thus to get a job you usually went in person. And you went often because it was usually a small town and the stores usually already knew who you where.

Most of them haven’t had to search for a job since the 80′s, especially since there is a high chance they’ll get contacted by a friend you works at another company that would hire them right up if they lost their job.

Technology has changed so fast in our generation that the job application process of small towns is gone. You can get hired at a job the next town over. So online applications have changed how companies view applications. If you want a job, you send in a form online. Going in person or calling over the phone just hassles the company and takes away precious time they could be helping real customers.

The generation of the 90′s and 2000′s is vastly different from the generation of the 50′s and 60′s. The problem is they can still do things they way they’ve always done without consequence, and expect that method to work for their kids.

small reminder

mermaididols:

trans women are hypervisible to the media and there will be nasty rumors and stories spread about jenner

do NOT get your information about her from tabloids!! do not believe anything a magazine or gossip site says about her!!! this is serious. yall already spread around completely false info before concerning her name, her personal life, and reasoning for transitioning because it was published on a gossip site and for some reason yall trusted it

seriously. dont contribute to the culture that thrives on making trans womens’ lives as hard as possible

when i was younger i had a really bad fear of Christopher Walken when i was going to sleep so my older brother gave me a watch that he set to like 8 hours ahead so that it was always daytime on the watch when i was asleep and he told me it would confuse Christopher Walken and he would think it was daytime and get scared of the sun and leave me alone

Your brother is the best

Who the fuck changed this from Richard Nixon to Christopher Walken

YA’LL DON’T ATTACK A ARTIST BECAUSE THEY DRAW WELL, ESPECIALLY IN A CONTEST SETTING

ARE YOU FIVE?

DOES YOUR HAND NEED TO BE HELD?

YOU DON’T BAN FAST RUNNERS FROM A GAME OF TAG, YOU DON’T ATTACK PEOPLE WITH GOOD VOICES FROM SINGING COMPETITIONS AND YOU DON'T SEND HATE TO GOOD ARTISTS BECAUSE THEY’RE IN A ART COMPETITION

I WILL FIGHT ALL OF YOU TOOTH TO NAIL IF I CATCH YOU DOING THIS FUCK

Woah, where did this come from? Who the fuck is hating on good artists for using their talents to win contests in which their talent, which they’ve spent years developing, is the main focus?
