arceusroxmysox-deactivated20181 asked: If developers want more money, they should make better games. Amputating parts of games to sell them back to us is an unhealthy practice. And seriously, why are you supporting them doing this? Do you seriously /want/ to pay extra over what you already bought?
It’s making thousands of video game companies significantly more money
How is it unhealthy if it’s working perfectly exactly as planned?
Look at WoW with all its expansions and monthly fees
Look at PayDay 2 with the amount of content packs they’re able to keep making because of the amount of people buying them
Look at Killer Instinct being a 100% DLC game where every individual character is DLC and it’s one of the most successful fighting games ever made
Like I’m really not seeing the issue here
And YES I WANT TO PAY EXTRA
Do you know how much money I’ve put into free games like League of Legends and RIFT?
THOUSANDS
OF
DOLLARS
THOOOOOOOOOOOOUSAAAAAAANDS
Not just 5.99 for an extra two missions and a costume
THOUSANDS OF FUCKING DOLLARS
ON A GAME THAT’S ALREADY FREE
YES I WANT TO PAY MORE FOR GAMES THAN I ALREADY PAID
I WANT TO PAY LOTS MORE
“It’s making thousands of video game companies significantly more money

It’s costing the players more and you really can’t say developers aren’t purposefully removing content from their game to sell back to you.
“Look at WoW with all its expansions and monthly fees“
It’s $15 a month, you can play for free now with WoW tokens, expansions give you a whole lot of content for their cost, and they end up free over time.
“And YES I WANT TO PAY EXTRA“
I think you’re the only one.
“Do you know how much money I’ve put into free games like League of Legends and RIFT?“
That’s the catch. A free game can charge you for dlc because it has no other way to make money. A 60 dollar game asking you to fork over additional cash is bullshit.
Now, I do think there is good dlc. Fallout: New Vegas selling expansions, giving you a new area to explore, new weapons to play with, and a new story? Good. Mortal Kombat X charging you to make Fatalities easier? Bullshit. We called those difficulty levels. There is no reason they couldn’t add an easy mode where Fatalities are easier to pull off. But no, they’re charging you. Because they think that little of you. They think you’re the kind of idiot who’d throw away their money on this shit. And from how strongly you’re defending it, you are.
I’ll pay more on games I love to support developers, too, buddy. It’s how they invest and get return with an interested and supportive audience.
God forbid companies don’t earn more than their initial game sales. More money for higher and more quality? Oh no!
The thing about content that can be purchased is that it should be extra content, bonus content. You shouldn’t have to pay for an essential part of the game like the ending or the thing that people actually want. the part that makes the game recognizable.
Which games force you to buy the ending?
It’s just an example of something that marketers have considered. We are just lucky they realized it would have been a bad idea.

timelordsage-deactivated2016070 asked: I personally hate the U.S. government and wish we didn't have any at all. BUT If we didn't have a government, we as a country would be in utter chaos!
Riots would start, war would happen. O_O But that’s just how I think. I’m just gonna hide in my hole now. >.<
Chaos leads to order in evolution of human nature. We simply need a political restart.
yes, but without government, there would be nothing to stop racist assholes from killing people. Are those lives really worth it for a political restart?
And there’d be nothing to stop the victims’ revenge, but all of this is assuming things would be allowed to go to the extreme before transition into something new.
If there was no massive government, communities would create their own. Each community would have their own set of codes and laws. They would make alliances with other communities and start trading. And most would have a “you hurt us we hurt you” code and stuff.
If there was no government, things would end up like fallout except not in a post nuclear apocalypse.
Client: Our website is down. We need it up now. All our business is done via
our website.
Me: You cancelled our services in May 2014.
Client: Yeah, but it was working last week, and we need it up now. We’re losing
money even as we speak.
Me: You haven’t paid us since April 2014, and you said your new IT company
had it last year. We took it down in a bit of a virtual clean-up last week
Client: Yeah, but it was working last week and we need it back up. Now.
Me: I have an email from you telling me to cancel your service in May 2014.
We haven’t charged you since then… but your website was still up.
Client: Yeah… so you should have warned us before taking it down.
Me: You told us to take it down. Last year. Then you stopped paying us
Client: We need it now. We’re losing thousands of dollars every day
Me: Ok… we need to get it off a back up drive, then you need to pay for the
hosting of that website from May last year to now.
Client: Wait, wait, wait… you want money from us? No way. No, no, no, we’ll
find a new web designer, make a better site, then find someone to host it, and we’re gonna sue you for not warning us that you’re taking our site
down.
Me: You told us to take it down last year. You stopped paying us. You
should ask your new IT company why they didn’t migrate it. You want to build a
new site? Cool. That will take a few weeks, you said you were losing thousands
daily. It’ll cost less than that to have your site up in a few hours.
Client: &$%# YOU
Me: Ok… thanks for calling. Is there anything else I can help you with?
