I feel like completely closing the toilet is a common courtesy simply because if you don’t the waste gets air born. Also growing up we had a shelf of stuff over our toilet and if you didn’t close the lid stuff could fall in.
This. Closing the lid stops the poo water aerosol from getting out when you flush.
Also, really simple rule: If someone you love wants you to do something, do it. Because it makes them happier, so yay.
Closing the lid also keeps the stupid cats from drinking the bleach water…
It’s just better to have the seat down though because three out of five actions involve sitting down.
