I am chilling out at Starbucks after work to avoid the “conversation” my dad wants to have when I come home. On one hand, I despise Starbucks but in the other, he would never think to look for me here. The fact that he hasn’t even tried to contact me since noon is making me more nervous.

I came to work an hour early just so I wouldn’t have to deal with my father. I really don’t like to post personal problems unless it’s topical but I have gotten to the point where I’m yelling at nothing when I’m alone because I know it’s more effective than talking to my dad.

NO.

THAT IS SO FUCKING WRONG.

Guys my degree and passion is in forensic science. I have had documentation of documentation, initial every thing, and be prepared to be discredited over a mistake drilled into me. If my camera had been out of batteries during my crime scene class, my professor would have chewed me out and failed me for the day. And she still would have expected me to go out and buy them right then and there.

This medical examiner has failed to uphold the most important aspect of evidence collection. You document the hell out of it. You document that you documented.

Guys this also means that there are no EVIDENCE QUALITY PHOTOGRAPHS.

This guy needs to be fired. Straight up FIRED.

Everyone who legally defended Wilson need to be arrested. The all committed perjury.

Do any of you reblogging this have any fucking idea what zoos actually do? I hate PETA’s fucking sensationalist, uneducated bullshit.

(First, let me say that this doesn’t apply to all “zoos.” Many animal attractions, parks, etc. have inadequate facilities and care, breed animals for no other reason than to have babies at all times, keep animals in dangerous environments, etc. This is in reference to accredited, official, quality zoos.)

1. Zoos’ main purpose is conservation. Zoos breed and care for endangered animals, some of which are literally extinct in the wild. There are more than thirty unique and special animal species that are considered “extinct in the wild.” Meaning that, without zoos, they would have been gone forever, probably a long time ago. Think about the scimitar-horned oryx:

the Pinta Island tortoise (Lonesome George, the last living pure Pinta Island tortoise, just died, but about 17 hybrids were discovered):

the Père David’s deer:

the Socorro dove:

and the Kihansi spray toad:

…all of which would be lost forever without zoos. And those who have already gone extinct because of human destruction is in the hundreds. Some of the most recent are the passenger pigeon (ext. 1914):

the Mexican grizzly bear (ext. 1964):

the Caribbean monk seal (ext. 2008):

and the Javan tiger (ext. 1970s):

…all of which could have been saved. And it’s only getting worse.

2. Zoos strive to educate the public about the beauty and importance of animals they might never have heard of otherwise. Most people would never hear of animals like the tapir, the kudu, the condor, the ocelot, or the marmoset (among others) if they never went to a zoo. Many people still don’t. But how many kids, after going to the zoo, have made a new favorite animal? How many of you did? I did, many times. Zoos (with the help of other things) inspired me to go into the field of Zoology, where I hope to use my career and life to help these animals. If a kid’s never seen a bear in real life, or a tiger, or an elephant, how much do you think they’re going to take notice?

3. Zoos take in animals that were injured, seized from illegal situations, or otherwise compromised. They strive to either rehabilitate them or keep them in a safe, comfortable environment. Most animals that are taken from the illegal pet trade or other such illegal trades are not fit to be released into the wild. Many have become accustomed to relying on humans for food and other necessities. In the wild, they would continue to seek human help, putting both them and the humans in serious danger (especially in the context of big cats, bears, and other predators).

Fucking stop it. Educate yourself and support your local zoo. They need our help.

SIGNAL BOOST. The Oakland Zoo has saved tigers who would have otherwise been broken from performing in a circus. Now the bbs get space, love, toys and all the health care they could ever need.

There’s a small zoo in Austin, TX that is primarily a rescue for exotic pets that were either taken by police or surrendered because their owners couldn’t care for them.

Many of the animals there were abused by their previous owners, and the staff at the Austin Zoo helps rehabilitate them and provides a safe environment for them.

I’m also signal boosting this because of my love of animals and zoos. If it wasn’t for zoos I’d never know what a Tamarin is, and they are one of my favorite animals.

There is nothing more inevitable and annoying than going onto any game’s forum, saying “I know X skill build/play style is not the most optimal or strongest but I find it fun and what would you recommend for making the best of it”, and having 90%+ of the responses be “Don’t do that, use Y power build instead.”

Makes me think of people who make fun of me for using toon link as my smash main and togetic as my pokemon main.
Don’t play the way that is easiest, play the way that is the funnest.

If you would feel ok taking a dog away from a young girl who is confined to a wheel chair, fining her family if they objected, and then killing the dog, there may be a place for you in city government in Moreauville, Louisiana!

On October 13, the village voted to ban pit bulls and Rottweilers.

A letter was sent out to owners saying that if they didn’t get rid of them by December 1, then they would be taken for “further disposition.”

The dog pictured above is a pit bull named Zeus. He is owned by a girl named O’Hara Owens, whose neck problems require her to wear a brace and use a wheel chair. Zeus has never been accused of any aggressive behavior, and he’s a huge comfort to O’Hara:

“If anything ever happened to him, I would just shut down,” she said. […] She says Zeus acts as a sort of “therapy dog,” providing love and support for her and her other brothers and sisters.

“I can sit here if I’m in pain, he comes and he notices it before I even make any noise,” she said.

O’Hara’s family says they will not surrender Zeus, to which Moreauville Alderman Penn Lemoine replies that the village government will take the dog by force, fine the family, and kill Zeus:

We asked Lemoine about dog attacks…

“There have been, but I don’t think they’re documented,” he said.

And, if they plan to kill the dogs they collect on December 1…

“I’d rather not elaborate on that,” he said.

“Is that what it is? Are you going to kill the dogs?” asked reporter, Brooke Buford.

“If that’s what the ordinance says, then that’s what it says,” Lemoine responded.

However, Lemoine did admit that the town might reconsider in the face of enough uproar, so O’Hara’s family created a petition for exactly that purpose. If you wouldn’t feel ok taking a dog away from a young girl who is confined to a wheel chair, fining her family if they objected, and then killing the dog, you can sign that petition here.

Hopefully, the ordinance will be overturned. I hope and think it will, thanks to the media attention and public outcry over this patently ridiculous law. But breed-specific legislation like this is not an isolated incident, and it is not ok. Learn more about this cruel abuse of animals—and liberty—here.

OKAY GUYS THIS PETITION NEEDS AT LEAST 20000 MORE SIGNATURES
THE BAN IS IMPLEMENTED TODAY/TOMORROW.

DON’T

JUST

SCROLL

PAST

IT LITERALLY TAKES 5 SECONDS TO SIGN.

SIGN YOU MOTHERFUCKERS

Don’t blame the breed. Dogs are not bad by nature. Dogs become aggressive when they have terrible owners. Blame the owner, not the breed.
