Steven Universe Future episode where an exhausted Steven just wants to go on a peaceful date with Connie and the Crystal Gems go out of their way to make sure nothing goes HORRIBLY WRONG but THE UNIVERSE HATES THEM and there’s a LOT OF THINGS HAPPENING but the Crystal Gems try to keep it under control so Steven and Connie dont find out and it’s really cute
Steven and Connie: *talking and laughing over smoothies*
Garnet: *choking out a rogue Homeworld gem in the background*
Steven and Connie: *watching a movie*
Pearl: *discreetly collecting runaway gem shards as they cause quiet havoc in that very theater*
Steven and Connie: *finding shapes in the clouds*
Amethyst: *smacking Onion with a broom as he tries to set things on fire*
But of course their efforts can’t help everything.
Steven and Connie: *about to kiss*
The Diamonds, appearing out of nowhere:
YOO HOO
I think ideally an episode like this would need to be from the gems’ perspective, but considering how strictly the show sticks to Steven’s perspective it’s very amusing to imagine and episode that’s oddly domestic except the gems are doing buckwild shit in the background and it’s completely unaddressed
honestly, cars, personal transportation, being the main mode of transportation is the biggest blight on society. the space wasted on parking lots. traffic. the fact that, we’re gonna run out of the shit that fuels these fuckers one day. the fact that everything is so spaced out now you HAVE to have a car if you want to do anything. the fact that they make up 1/5th of all carbon dumped out each year. I don’t know how to put into words just how much of a waste cars are. Parking structures are big disgusting concrete blocks with nothing of value in their architecture, just breaking the skyline with ugliness.
Maintenance on a car is the worst, you basically have to sell your blood if you ever wanna fix anything wrong with your car. Car insurance is mandatory which, if you’re poor, well fuck you, die I guess.
32 people fit into 32 cars on a United States road, but a trolley car with one driver, can hold 32 people, and probably more, thus resulting in less room used for road space, less room used for parking lots, less space used in general, and we can actually return to a period of life where the streets were where people walked.
