I feel sorry for the old man, but it was stealing. There is no apparently about it. Water is not free, it’s not a right to have it, and people pay must pay for it. If a government gives a thing to you like utilities, its still not free because they take it from somewhere else, like in taxes.

Yeah. That happened. What happened is that the government accused people who got childcare benefits of fraud (using ethnic profiling to boot) and forced them to pay back all the money they had received (aka: an awful lot of money) to pay for daycare. Said “fraud” was actually false accusations or minor things like forgetting to sign a dotted line, things like that, that catapulted many families into debts, poverty. Oh, did I mention this happened like 12 years ago? Yeah, those parents have had to suffer a government witch hunt for more than a decade.
Around Christmas a (big) rapport on this was released and the government decided to resign today.
Let me repeat that: The entire Dutch government has resigned. Every single minister and secretary has quit. This is a big f*king deal.
Gosh, I’m so relieved. This is a huge blow to the VVD (biggest and factually most corrupt party currently in government, also: neoliberals) and a huge relief to anyone affected by this sh*tty excuse for governance.
