“Y’see, the first time my Dad kissed my Mom was at a Love Handel concert, and it’s their anniversary -“
“B to the O-R-I-N-G.”
“Not yet Ferb.”
i love how he doesn’t say ”no, ferb.”
he says ”not yet.”
as in they were planning to bludgeon him with a mace
Ferb I know what were gonna do today
To people who never saw this whole scene, notice that Ferb’s holding a bag. They were planning to not only bludgeon him with that mace, but stuff him in a bag to bring back to their house.
i called that yall would fall for the fuckin gay ass marketing of corporations literally before pride even started because this shit is like CLOCKWORK
if i see that budweiser post on my dash one more time im gonna flip theyre catering to the lgbt community because of our long history of alcoholism because we are being fucking killed! they want your money! they dont care about you! them putting the definitions of the stripes of our flags on twitter isnt gonna end homophobia!
You didn’t “call” anything, but you did massively miss the point of why people get excited over this.
It’s called shifting the climate. Virtually no one is actually fooled by these corporations but apparently you don’t understand that not too long ago they felt it was in their best interest to ignore or outright demonize us. Now they know it’s better to support us. Is that support solely for their own financial interests? Yes. That’s irrelevant. Because it’s a reaction, not an action. It means we’ve pushed the climate enough that the moneymaking powers had to adapt to us in order to survive. It is not a mechanism of ending homophobia, it is a result of our slowly chipping away at it and refusing to remain invisible.
Corporations are indeed soul-sucking monsters that only want to profit, but until they no longer rule over our lives, if they are profiting by pandering to us rather than conservatives, it is in our favor.
reblogging this with @touchyourblood ’s tags, because they are 1000000000000% relevant.
I’ve already had a family friend (who used to be super fucking dismissive about my asexuality because he “just didn’t get it, i mean like, what’s the point”) send me the tweet, and the pic of thr Ace glass. He said, “this is you, right? I think I understand now- and I’m sorry.”
That’s HUGE.
Is Budweiser trying to make a profit? Yes. Of fucking course they are. But that means they see us as a large enough part of the population with enough power to affect their bottom line.
And if you think that’s not a marker of the massive amount of ground we have gained, you have not been paying attention.
Does that mean “homophobia is over”? Fuck no, no one said it did. But just because we have not accomplished the end-all-be-all goal is no reason to ignore the progress made, or worse, pretend it didn’t happen.
take solace in the fact that corporations consider the LGBTQA+ community a more viable demographic than the bigots theyve been catering to in the past.
