Another awesome thing about Everything Everywhere All at Once is a nice meaty role for the iconic James Hong. You know the guy. The most That Guy of all That Guys.
He’s the most prolific character actor of all time, probably. James Hong has more than 500 acting credits. FIVE HUNDRED. He’s been acting since 1954 in TV and Films. He appeared on basically every 70′s TV show and a lot of the early 80′s, and appeared in many many major films over the years. Generally he gets real small but memorable roles. Here’s a few:
Other than his role as villian Lo Pang in Big Trouble in Little China I don’t think I’ve seen him get as much screentime in a major film before. At the age of 93, it’s about time!
At literally any moment I could start sobbing about Waymond Wang. About how he brings cookies to soften hearts. About how he shields the people he loves even when he’s afraid. About how he dances with strangers. About how he loves his wife. About how he goes to bat for her even after she takes a bat to everything precious to him. About how his kindness is an intentional fighting style. What a love. What a character. What a man.
i know everyones already talked abt this movie but god the way they show human connection. how love exists in every possible universe, and even in a world where you have hot dog fingers and youre married to someone you hate, even when no sentient life had developed, there is still love. there is love everywhere, in everyone if you choose to see it. you are capable of loving every person you ever meet. you are capable of so much fucking love if you choose it. there is always something to love. no one is unlovable.
