“Hero with a psychopath past that the villain tries to bring out to prove they’re the same” is such an edgy and overdone trope but goddamn did MGR actually pull it off (with the most absurd dialogue ever written for a game no less.)
Like, ok, so Monsoon attempts to make Raiden see his pledge of protecting the weak is some weak shit he tells himself so he’s not too concerned with being knee deep in bodies, and that he loves killing just as much as them. The natural order is that the strong prey on the weak, yadda yadda supervillain stuff.
And then Raiden’s all “Ok you know what? You’re right. I fucking love killing. The strong really do prey on the weak; No more of this superhero shit, I’m back to my murderous Jack the Ripper persona. It’s time to kill the shit out of weak people”
And Monsoon’s all “Oh good good you’re just like us.”
Then Raiden goes “Oh yeah also there’s no one weaker than people who prey on innocents and the under privileged who can’t fight back.”
Jack: I just fucking love killing evil bastards protected by unjust laws
Monsoon: Wtf you can’t do that. That’s illegal
Monsoon, after convincing Jack to embrace his slashy-murdery side but then Jack just starts murdering him extra hard:
i’m happy that mcu peter’s spidey sense isn’t being shown as a miracle worker, like i’m happy peter’s sense went off to danger that was laughably close to peter. people have this misconception (mainly due to the 2002 spidey films) that his spidey sense will give peter a heads up to threats wayyyyy in advance, but that’s not the case. like there have been many times when peter’s spidey sense doesn’t really alert him to danger until the danger is really close, sometimes close enough that regular people have already noticed said danger.
and even then, peter often ignores it bc it can go off to things that aren’t necessarily a threat but COULD be. like a wad of paper being thrown at him by flash, a puddle on the floor that could make him slip. so sometimes peter just ignores it bc it goes off all the time to shit that really isn’t that dangerous. the sense is basically like a really reliable, and sometimes annoying, gut-feeling. the spidey sense is so cool but it’s still a sense not that different from sight or hearing or taste or touch, and it isn’t all powerful or always very helpful.

Billie Joe Armstrong literally wrote a song about coming out as bisexual as a teenager, and then like two years later wrote one that was pretty much all about dressing up in drag and getting fucked by/fucking guys, and y'all STILL say he’s a “straight ally” because he married a woman??
The same goes for Freddy Mercury and David Bowie. Both were openly bi. Both wrote (multiple) songs about their queerness. Both are pigeonholed as either “gay” or “straight”. They were both neither of those things.

This also happened to p!nk, she’s openly bisexual but since she’s married to a man and has had two babies with him, people say that she’s straight.
Like, yeah she does a lot and shows a lot of support for the LGBT+ community but she isn’t just an ally, she’s part of that community.
Biphobia is completely real and so many Bi wlw and mlm are assigned the “straight” role when they just ARENT.
