That feel when people talk about autism or adhd as if none of the people they’re talking about can hear them, as if we’re too rare to enounter unless we’re your child… what do they think we are, neuro-cryptids?
I was at a trading card shop the other day and two of the workers were making shitty “REEEE autism screeching” jokes and like I was right there. One of the guys is generally pretty friendly toward me so I assume he has no idea I’m on the spectrum but hoo boy at least now I know he’s on the spectrum of asshole
I’m bringing this back because “on the spectrum of asshole” kills me every time I look in the notes of this post
I’m reblogging this because of ‘neuro-cryptids’. there’s a lot to appreciate here
Turns out Autistic and ADHD kids grow up who knew

justin mcelroy has said many powerful things but honestly no set of words in the english language conveys the same energy as “that’s a funny trick to play on god”
“you’re rearranging deck chairs on the titanic, my friend” is a very close second
“The first amendment protects you from the government, not from the Justin.”

Oh man I forgot to post about what is probably an overlooked thing that I think is actually really important from the Homestuck Epilogue! (Again, spoilers!)
THE TOOTH!
Speficially, Lord English’s tooth that poisons John, killing him with… basically plot irrelevance though Cherub venom. (They say poison but if it’s injected it’s venom not poison and yes I’m going to be nitpicky about that.)
Except… it goes out of its way, multiple times and explicitly, to mention that it’s his *gold* tooth.
Which in no way should be attached to venom glands.Lord English’s tooth is a plot device to write John Egbert, pretty much the biggest threat to the narrative, out of the story, but the fact that it’s the one tooth that is least likely to poison him makes me think it’s meant to highlight that there’s something wrong. An… intentional plot hole I guess? The narrators trying to create a plot device that can remove Egbert, whihc I think both want to do but in different ways.
You gotta remember, dirk was explicitly punishing john for not being satisfied with earth C. And dirk is only a human, a god yes but still human. It’s reasonable to thing that dirk in his anger at john left this plothole which terezi (the only one who cant be effected by either dirk or muse) can use. Maybe in dirks haste at writing john out of the story he unintentionally turned the tooth into a juju which can render any character irrelevant. Imagine the damage it could do to dirk and muse

also the “ultimate self” isnt the best version of yourself that you can be, it’s just…. the most YOU you can be.
dirk isn’t beyond redemption. if he stops being a fucking egomaniac for like 5 seconds and actually resolves to better himself, he still can. (but he probably wont, because he is convinced that he cannot become a better person.)
ascending to your “ultimate self” isn’t necessarily the “end” of ones personal growth, despite the name. in real life, you never stop being a person, and people can always change themselves. always
ROSE: It’s not about gaining additional power, so much as the gradual dissolving of the boundaries between your own awareness and that of your many doomed selves who perished in other timelines.
DIRK: Your Ultimate Self, that which is revealed when the mind’s partitions are stripped away, and all potentiality of who you are and what you could have been flow together.
these 2 quote basically say your ultimate self is you and all the alternate copies of yourself rolled up into one being
now remember, dirk’s alternate selves include lil hal, who later becomes lord english(i dunno if robots would count for this) and dave’s bro, who was possessed by lord english for presumably most of his life
it’s entirely possible that bro or lil hal got added into dirk’s ultimate self and took over
adding onto that, dirk’s powers in meat epilogue were literally those of a lord, dirk explicitly stating his power was to control people
The problem is, I think power like mine can only make antagonistic intent unavoidable. Who could wield such control over people’s choices and the course of events without ultimately becoming the enemy of anyone who notices?
despite him being a prince, the class associated with the word destroy, while lord is the class associated with the word controlI literally just posted about this, but considering Dave’s ultimate self explicitly includes absorbing Davepeta memories, lifetimes etc, I think it’s pretty safe to say that Dirk absorbed some Lord English/Doc Scratch etc.
That would mean that dirk would have near omnipotence of doc scratch
