I feel like a lot of people tend to forget that the antivax movement is the result of ableism and a hatred of autistic people especially autistic children. It’s not based off of a “trend” it’s core reason for being a “thing” is because of ableism, so like…yeah make fun of antivaxers but can we please remember that they are always ableist pieces of garbage that would rather their child die slowly and painfully from a preventable disease than live and be autistic.
I’m getting really pissed off right now because of dumbass people who think words can’t hurt people
that words can’t possibly count as harassment or abuse
that because it’s words, they don’t count for defending people like children who are being mentally abused by their parents because it ‘shouldn;t count’ as child abuse because it’d impede on the parents’ right to ‘free speech’ or whatever dumb shit you want to call it
that someone who repeatedly stalks someone online telling them to kill themselves or using scare tactics and harassment, getting past blocks and making alt accounts, somehow shouldn’t be considered anything more than ‘just someone saying words’ and should just continue to get away with it and preying on CHILDREN and people with mental disabilities because apparently they have NO valid defense against ‘free speech’
yeah I’m sorry but if you really seriously think words cannot be used as a weapon, as a criminal offense, you have no concept of empathy whatsoever.
