historical-nonfiction:

A Pythagorean cup looks like a normal drinking cup, except that the bowl has a central column in it. It was supposedly invented by Pythagoras of Samos (yes, that one). It allows the user to fill the cup with wine up to a certain level. If the user fills only to that level, the imbiber may enjoy a drink in peace. If, however, the user gets greedy, the cup dumps all the wine into the unfortunate victim’s lap.

Pythagoras sounds like a real asshole.

he was

Fun fact: This cup uses an “S-trap” which functions very similarly to the way a modern toilet flushes. The S-trap of the modern toilet was not invented until 1775, which was 2275 years after Pythagoras died.  Humans used this idea to embarrass people at parties for more than two millennia before realizing it could also be used to better pipe shit out of their houses.

My favorite thing about “Ok Boomer” is that, instead of arguing, the youth unconsiously and collectively decided to literally just verbally wave boomers off and treat them like children who won’t shut up and i think that’s beautiful

The Sims 4 + all its packs cost $679.68 but it’s still so lackluster. Let that sink in. $679.68. Now think about other games that are like $50, they have way more gameplay than TS4 + all its packs, which is $679.68. And the price keeps going up with every pack they release, and they keep releasing these packs that aren’t worth their money at all. What I’m trying to say here is, EA’s a capitalistic corporation that has the main focus of making the most money with using the least amount of resources possible, and it’s working perfectly, and people are blind to it and are even doing the most defending these $40 expansion packs with very little added gameplay.

I know “Bring Me To Life” is possibly the biggest meme of a song ever to exist, but yknow what?

it slaps

end of story

hot take: most meme songs are memes in part because they are genuinely catchy. If they weren’t, people wouldn’t tolerate listening to them the requisite number of times to be a meme.

Also they re-recorded the song in 2017 without the stupid male vocals that their record label forced them to add in 2003, and it’s actually fucking breathtaking

Evanescence has always been a great band, Amy lee has an amazing voice. Her last album is comprised of reimagined versions of some of her biggest songs with an orchestral arrangement. It slaps so damn hard.
