carey means (the voice of frylock in ATHF) gets no royalties from his work on the show (that ran for FIFTEEN YEARS with his voice in every episode) and has recently started crowdfunding to cover his living costs since his heart failure has left him unable to carry on working as a dishwasher. voice actors are so so unbelievably fucked over

Alongside many, many other workplace abuses faced by the company, Kdin Jenzen revealed that she was never paid for her voicework as May Marigold on RWBY, since she was “already being paid as a Rooster Teeth employee.”

Jen Brown, who also did voicework on RWBY as the voice of Pyrrha Nikos and other minor characters, backed up Kdin, citing that she was also mistreated while providing voicework for the show.

In light of all this, Sean Chiplock has also revealed that he continues to get paid more for 2 background voice roles in the movie Detective Pikachu than he was ever paid for his performance in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Unions aren’t enough we gotta start handing voice actors a bat
