Calling a canon bisexual woman a lesbian becuase she has a female love interest or is in a wlw relationship is bisexual erasure and biphobic!!!!

god remember that cursed tumblr phase where thered b like. personifications of websites constantly. and every personification would be white except for like, youtube or some shit. and tumblr would be a pale white girl with blue hair and a tardis sundress. deviantart was some scene kid, always. inevitably ppl would ship like google x wikipedia who were both white men with some 500 word fic in the comments followed by ship fanart.

this concept was also applied to things like planets and fast food chains and really anything else

remember when ppl shipped tumblr chan with 4chan

thank you for reminding me of these i hate it a lot!!

I love seeing this shit as someone who joined after all this drama. It really is like scrolling through a museum with cursed artifacts

Wait shit people were still drawing that ship after “normies” became a term? Jesus that’s more terrifying than being reminded of that phase at all

how are “homestuck is good, actually” and “homestuck is bad, actually” both Hot Takes on this site

not only are they both hot takes, but they’re both spoken by homestucks, to other homestucks, who agree, no matter which you say.

not that my input really matters, but i don’t know much of lgbt history other than bits and pieces of stonewall, a little bit of the aids crisis, and the legalization of gay marriage; i’m an actual child and nobody here (kentucky) educates anyone/gets educated on it

how about instead of shaming people—especially young people—for not knowing our history, we provide them with credible resources?

here’s a long list of LGBT+ historical events worth googling and learning about. i’m not sure if all the dates and details are spot on, but, again, this is really just a guide for what to research on your own. to warn you, a lot of this history is ugly, including things like the conflation of pedophilia and LGBT+ people, genital mutilation, homophobia, transphobia, nazis, and wide scale persecution.

Free Resources:

an interactive timeline of LGBT+ world history

The 1950s and the Roots of LGBT Politics (American-centric)

Before Stonewall: The Making of a Gay and Lesbian Community (warning: this documentary was made in the 80s and is dated in a lot of respects as a result; it also features quotes from Allen Ginsberg, who we now know was a pedophile, but it’s still very informative in terms of history)

a brief history of the bisexual movement from the 1960s-early 2000s (American-centric)

Bisexual.org has a TON of resources on bi (and often pan) history, historical figures, research, and media

“Here’s A History Of Bisexuality, From Ancient Egypt To Stonewall”

a brief timeline of trans history, beginning in the 1890s (European and American-centric)

“Gender Variance Around the World Over Time”

Some Purchasable Resources:

(most of these can be bought used online for pretty cheap and some can be found in libraries)

Before Stonewall: Activists for Gay and Lesbian Rights in Historical Context by Vern L Bullough (it’s a bit dated, but still informative)

A Little Gay History: Desire and Diversity Across the World by R. Parkinson

Sapphistries: A Global History of Love between Women (Intersections) by Leila J. Rupp

Gay Voices of the Harlem Renaissance (Blacks in the Diaspora) by A.B. Christa Schwarz

The Lavender Scare: The Cold War Persecution of Gays and Lesbians in the Federal Government by David K. Johnson

Queer Brown Voices: Personal Narratives of Latina/o LGBT Activism edited by Uriel Quesada, Letitia Gomez, and Salvador Vidal Ortiz

Transgender History: The Roots of Today’s Revolution by Susan Stryker

Asegi Stories: Cherokee Queer and Two-Spirit Memory by Qwo-Li Driskill

The fact that we don’t know our history is the result of deliberate erasure and the fact that alot of the people we’d learn this in person are dead. It’s good to see online resources like this, spread them and archive them (webarchive, waybackmachine, downloading, saving physical copies even)

^^^ you said it better than my tags did

more information about the upcoming movie Adam (2019) from trans actors who worked as extras in the film

for those who don’t know Adam (2019) is a film based off a book written by Ariel Schrag and the reason why it’s so gross and offensive is that the plot basically revolves around a cishet boy pretending to be a trans man so he can sleep with lesbians

for more information on the book/movie read this in-depth review by @genderpunksap  (TW: transphobia, homophobia, lesbophobia, corrective rape, voyeurism)

anyway please do not bully or harass the trans actors in this film!!!
