My 13yo cousins made a stop at my farm on their way to visit their grandmother farther North, and I wondered if I should look at their social media the day before because today’s teenagers make me nervous and I don’t know what they’re into and how to entertain them. They arrived talking about obsolete currencies (of all things) and how the Aztecs used to pay with bird feathers filled with gold dust. They asked if they could go look at my coop to see if chicken feathers are big enough for them to cut the tip of the quill and put some dirt inside. Then they spent an hour very patiently approaching Pampe (she’s shy with strangers) to feed her their melon rinds and pet her. Now I feel silly for worrying; Today’s Teenagers just want to hug a young llama and make counterfeit Aztec money.
Even if the polls are ridiculous you still have to vote Even if the experts say it’s over you still have to vote Even if the newscasters have called your state you still have to vote
Elections are decided by the people who show up on election day. All the polls in the world don’t mater if you don’t go into the booth and make a choice. All the experts can be (and frequently are) wrong if you don’t go into the booth and make a choice. News media tend to call stats at 5% of votes tallied. If your polls are still open, you can still change things.
Don’t let a strong summer showing in the media dissuade you. You still have to show up in November. It does matter. If people see their candidate winning and decide that they don’t have to show up and be heard, there is a chance the other side will rally. You have to participate. No matter what.
I wore this for years ago. I was right then and I’m right now.
tumblr comedy I haven’t seen in a while and I kind of miss: when someone says like ‘smoothies are great’ and then someone else says ‘juices are great too!’ and the first person says ‘make your own post’ and then the second person says ‘okay’ and then you scroll down and theres a second post.
I also love seeing posts where someone says something that clearly sets up a joke and then has very obviously messaged their friend to question it in a reblog so they deliver the punchline with maximum impact. Haven’t seen that in a while

Ableists like to label you as what you’re worth to them.
This is very very true. The idea of high or low “functioning” simply means “able to function as a neurotypical.” It’s “how well do we blend in?” and not “how able are we to live our lives and/or be happy?”
