Video games don’t have to have good graphics to be good:
Video games don’t have to be about combat to be good:
Video games don’t have to be linear to envelop players in their worlds:
Video game bosses don’t have to be difficult to be fun:
Video games don’t have to lack color simply because they are “post-apocalyptic”:
Video games can have lighthearted art design and still carry deeply dark themes:
Rethink video games.
But also don’t think that dark games can’t be beautiful in their own way:
Or that difficult bosses can’t be fun:
Don’t that games with combat in them can’t be light hearted:
Or that violent games can’t also be silly:
Don’t think that playing the game competitively ruins the fun:
Or that dreary, colourless, post apocalyptic games hold any less story value:
Just because a game or playstyle isn’t good, or beautiful to you, doesn’t mean its any less valuable to someone else who does appreciate it. At the end of the day, it makes someone happy, and thats the greatest value of any art form.
Oh, hey! This is the best addition to my post after 100k notes! <3
Games don’t have to be in development to be cancelled
How Can Star Wars Be So Good Even Though It’s So Deeply Flawed And Narratively Inconsistent And Was Created By A Dumbass
[picture of Marcia Lucas in the editing room]
Seriously, stop everything you’re doing for the next twenty minutes and watch this video:
Although “George Lucas” has become synonymous with “Star Wars,” it’s really his collaboration with – and occasionally intervention from – the creative team surrounding him that helped launch the first movie into the stratosphere.
As the video points out, the movie that won all those Academy Awards – including, critically, the one for editing – was sculpted into its best-known and deservingly praised form by the editing team of Marcia Lucas (seen above), Paul Hirsch and Richard Chew.
If you’re at all interested in filmmaking or specifically the making of Star Wars, I can’t recommend “How Star Wars was Saved in the Edit” enough.
I literally thought this was joke meme created by a liberal to poke fun at conservatives but it’s a fucking REAL thing created by a conservative think tank and i have no idea how to process a self burn this catastrophic.
