As he grew older and older, he started losing his hair, until one day, on his deathbed, he was completely bald. That day, he called his children to a meeting.
He said, “Look at my hair. It used to be so magnificent, but it’s completely gone now. My hair can’t be saved. But look outside at the forest. It’s such a lovely forest with so many trees, but sooner or later they’ll all be cut down and this forest will look as bald as my hair.”
“What I want you to do,” the man continued, “is, every time a tree is cut down or dies, plant a new one in my memory. Tell your descendants to do the same. It shall be our family’s duty to keep this forest strong.”
So they did. Each time the forest lost a tree, the children replanted one, and so did their children, and their children after them. And for centuries, the forest remained as lush and pretty as it once was, all because of one man and his re-seeding heirline.

My friend’s little brother (non-verbal) used to hide people’s shoes if he liked the person, because it meant they had to stay longer. The more difficult it was to find your shoes, the more he liked you.
One day my cousin came over, and she was a bitch. When it was time to leave, my friend’s brother handed her shoes directly to her and she went on and on about how he must have a crush on her because he only “helped” her.
i really like how Tumblr gives me no concrete way of actually knowing who my mutuals are beyond “people who interact with my posts somewhat often and I interact with theirs and I’m PRETTY sure we’re following each other”.
like on Twitter it’s ALL about keeping track of this stuff, and some people get SOOO fuckin weird and clingy about it. but on here I could be mutuals with someone for a whole year, and if I didn’t see the notification when they first followed me then I’d have no idea. someone could unfollow me, and unless I’m insane and scroll through my entire follower list specifically looking for their name, I would never notice or have any reason to read into it. it’s great. I adore it.
I don’t know HOW this site managed to get so many basic little things right about social media (and then mostly stick with them!) while Instagram and TikTok and Twitter seemingly get more toxic and metrics-obsessed with every update, but I’m glad they did
also I’m sure there IS technically a way to check if people are mutuals with me, but please don’t tell me. I don’t want to know
So i was discussing with some friends a concept for a warlock whose relationship with their patron is akin to a multi level marketing pyramid scheme and then this happened.
