On new years eve here in New Zealand some people built a sandcastle island complete with a picnic table when the tide was out so that when the tide came back in they would have their own private island and therefor not be subject to the local liquor ban.
I mean as a person who’s had to integrate in a foreign culture (which is think is similar to how muggle borns would initially feel in the wizarding world) I know how you, despite wanting to become part of the community, seek out people like you by instinct. Tbh, all the European kids in my town would spend at least the first thirty minutes of any conversation with each other talking about how seriously no Communist is like a dirty word here and why don’t they have Kinder eggs in this fucking place is2g. So it makes sense to me that muggle borns would seek each other out and make inside jokes and dude the new Pokèmon came out bloody hell I’ll have to wait for summer to play it ugh and shit please tell me your mum sent you ballpoints again I seriously cannot deal with all this ink I keep staining everything.
Sorry I vomited words on here omg sorry I just realized
Muggleborns who have plans to go back and get a uni degree after Hogwarts. Older students who have muggle girlfriends and boyfriends and datefriends they only see on holidays but send them long letters about what they’re missing in muggle school. Muggleborns who read the muggle studies textbooks out loud to each other and fall off their chairs because they’re laughing so hard. Muggleborns who meet the Squib cousins and siblings of their pureblood friends, and instead of hating each other like they’re expected to, they share a look that says “Your family doesn’t understand you either, do they?”
Muggleborns defeating bogarts by using that spell to turn them into memes
How is this an amazing cast? There are literally only two actors out of this entire cast that are actually great actors, I have never even heard of the rest of these people.
I feel like you are only saying “Its an amazing cast” Because there are so few white people.
^ that’s all from a single movie. Danai Gurira: Tony-award winning writer, plays Michonne on The Walking Dead, one of the most popular series out there today Michael J. Jordan: Featured actor in popular shows like Friday Night Lights, The Wire, and Parenthood in addition to frequent appearances on film. Daniel Kaluuya: The star of Get Out, which currently boasts a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has been in the press pretty much constantly upon release. He was also featured in an episode of the acclaimed series Black Mirror. John Kani: An actor, playwright and director; while he hasn’t had as much work in America, he’s prolific enough to have a theatre in Newtown Johannesberg named after him.
Winston Duke and Letitia Wright have fewer credits to their names (the former has a consistent role in the well-received Person of Interest; the latter has been cast in Black Panther and Ready Player One in what is hopefully the beginnings of a bright career), but I don’t mean to belittle their successes by leaving them out, and those who aren’t as well known SHOULD be given a chance by big franchises. Lesser known names tend to get big after starring in Marvel movies. I sure as hell didn’t know who Chris Evans or Chris Hemsworth were prior to their flagship titles.
But even putting aside how important it is that this film is led by black creators, just because you don’t know these people doesn’t mean that they’re not critically acclaimed in their field, who haven’t put in the work. They have, and they’ve been recognized for it. Consider checking out some of their work before you decide whether or not only two of them are great actors.
I played Sharpay in my school’s production of High School Musical (I’m a 6ft tall guy) and I shared the part with this girl who looked nothing like Sharpay either. Instead of having one of us play Sharpay the first night and the other one play it the following night, the first person would run off in the middle of the scene and the other one of us would run on the stage and finish the scene. Also, all the costumes were only in her size.
nothing saddened me more than reading what blog this came from
The image above is a comic panel set in ancient Egypt.
Traditionally, ancient Egyptian art featured stylized people standing in profile. Ancient Greek art discovered and then focused on contrapposto, or a pose where, as described in the comic, a person places all their weight on one leg. It is considered an important phase in art history.
In the comic, a bunch of people are looking at one person who is leaning against a pillar. They are saying:
“Wow! Is that Heptup?” “He looks amazing.” “How was Greece, Heptup? You look really relaxed.”
Heptup, the person leaning on the pillar, says, “Yeah. I got into contrapposto over there. It’s where you put all your weight on one leg. I feel really dynamic.”
Two people on Heptup’s other side say:
“I love how his hips and shoulders aren’t parallel. He just looks so… alive.” “And so graceful.”
A final person speaks in two symbols placed vertically, which is a reference to Egyptian hieroglyphics, their writing system. The symbols he is saying are of a donkey, and of a person digging a hole with a shovel. It can be inferred he is saying something akin to “Bullshit.”
The joke scenario in the comic is one where ancient Egyptian people really did all stand rigidly like that, but one of the Egyptian people who traveled to Greece discovered contrapposto and now he leans on stuff and looks really cool. But the last guy isn’t impressed. It’s poking fun at art history.
Thats a good explanation but i think the hieroglyphs are calling heptup an ass hole
