when we last saw martin mertins in the flesh, he accepted to become a cosmic being by the comets and was transported to a higher plane of existence, right? But, what if thats not the full story. We know golb sent at least one of the comments so whats to say he didnt send all of them?
My theory is that purple comet sent marty to golb whose breath corrupted him and turned him into the lich and sent him back to earth during evergreens time.
