Deck of Many Things

yourplayersaidwhat:

So we found a Deck of Many Things and my brother, the DM pulled up a random generator for the cards. Me, being a lowkey gambler wanted to enthusiastically pull from it, while everyone else was wary.

DM: “Alright… You got… The Throne…”
DM: “…”
Me: “What is it?”
DM: “You get the deed to a Keep.”
Me: “Ooooh! I draw again.”
The DM proceeds to grumble a bit more, setting his phone down angrily.
DM: “It’s another Keep…”
Me: “O-Oh… I pull… again?”
The entire party is now yelling at me to not test my luck, but I don’t care.
The DM starts laughing maniacally, as the DM does.
DM: “A feeling of dread washes over you… -4 to all saving throws…”
The entire party shrieks at me for the rest of the session while revoking my card privileges.

Hey someone PLEASE explain what playersexual means before I have a stroke and die

“playersexual,” despite sounding like a completely awful, horrible word, means NPCs can be attracted to whatever the character assigns as their gender.

So it’s another word for moronsexual?

You know what else fucks me up? Algae.

This is a single-celled organism.

an independent woman

I see doubt in the notes so just wanted to say that YES, this is a unicellular organism! This is a species from a genus of green algae called Caulerpa, which are a siphonous algae. The frond shapes, the “rhizomes” it grows from, and the “roots” it extends into substrate are all extensions of a single multi-nucleate cell. Here’s what a siphonous alga looks like under a microscope, with no divisions in its cytoplasm:

It’s not the only algae like this, either! Caulerpa is a member of order Bryopsidales, which are all siphonous. Here’s some more macroscopic single cell algae:

Codium fragile, or dead man’s fingers. This one is a single long noodle of a cell with swollen growths on the outside called urtricles, packed together to create a firm “skin.”

Halimenia, a calcified algae whose shed growths are responsible for a lot of the beautiful white sand on tropical beaches:

Acetabularia or mermaid’s wine glass, the adorable mushrooms of the sea:

Algae? Is actually very cool. And you can’t convince me otherwise.

Welcome to….

yourplayersaidwhat:

My husband is evil. Very, very evil. He finally got to DM for a group we were a part of. He learned about them, what they did and didn’t know. As I already stated, he’s evil.

So the party entered a town…
DM: Fog begins to appear out of nowhere
Me (rogue): We need to leave NOW!
Warrior: Why? It’s just fog?
Wizard: What’s wrong?
Me (to DM, ooc): You are NEVER DMing again.
DM just smiles.
The party discuses what to do. I try to explain what’s happening and the other’s still don’t get it. No matter how hard I try, they insist on continuing.
DM (when decision is made): Welcome to Ravenloft.
