Watching Code Lyoko is sort of surreal because of how much technology has advanced since this very technology-focused cartoon premiered in 2003.
the virtual world of Lyoko houses two artificial intelligence beings, one with fully human behaviors, and one with the capability to affect things in the real world that aren’t even mildly electronic. (episode 1, a giant teddy bear. why XANA)
But, it still seems to obey video game type logic, such as only deploying a limited number of minions, all with a clearly visible weak spot.
The heroes are always alerted of XANA’s activity, (directional vibrations on the ground in Lyoko) and always stop it, (deactivating the tower) in the same ways every time.
I haven’t gotten to that episode yet, but I distinctly remember Jeremie exclaiming “I just need a couple more bytes!” and Odd saving the day by closing out a game of Tetris that was running in the background
If I’ve been bitten by a clown can I go see a doctor or something or is it already too late for me
This exact situation happened in an episode of Dexter’s Laboratory called The Laughing.
Dexter gets accidentally gets bit and turns into a clown by nightfall. But don’t worry! Apparently the cure for clown transformation is to be defeated by the natural enemy of the clown, a mime.
I love this website and it’s advice on clown infection
nothing tears the fragile veil between fiction and reality like the phrase “star trek: voyager got obama elected”
ok so @thefordokami asked me to explain this and explain i will because it’s one of my favorite weird star trek stories
so in the early 90s jeri ryan was married to a guy named jack ryan, who worked for goldman sachs and had some political aspirations in chicago. when jeri got the part of seven, she commuted to la from chicago and it was a big strain on their relationship and the marriage kind of fell apart. they got a divorce. later on, jack ryan was running for one of the us senate seats for illinois and the press (who were looking for a way to make a senatorial race interesting and decided that diving into ryan’s former marriage to a celebrity would do the trick) unsealed the divorce case, revealing that he had done some, for lack of a better word, turdish things during their marriage, he dropped out of the race, and his replacement republican was handily defeated by young barack obama. so without voyager, it’s possible that obama’s political career, which eventually led to the presidency, would have been very different, and basically the world is a weird place and everything is connected and if i ever got kicked back in time i’d just stand in one place sweating because literally everything leads to something else that you’d never expect and the timeline is unimaginably intricate and delicate
Outside of the homophobic hate against In a Heartbeat, I’ve seen a lot of straight people say “it was cute I guess, but it was boring” or “the story didn’t reach out to me”.
And I can’t help but laugh at how obviously straight these comments are. Of course it was boring to you, you couldn’t feel like you related to any of the characters in the four minutes something the short lasts. Of course the story didn’t reach out to you, it’s impossible to feel your heartstrings been pulled when sherwin is outed because you have never been through that and will never be.
My point is that, after so much time of close to nothing in terms of representation, lgbt people finally have a popular thing for us (how long its popularity will last i don’t know, but at least it did make an impact). We have a story made by us, for us, about us, and, I mean, you can be straight and enjoy it, of course. But you’re gonna have a harder time understanding or relating to it because it doesn’t, for a second, include you. And the way the story resonates with us… You’ll never get that first-hand.
Which, by the by, does it ring any bell? To a certain issue that always happens in reverse? And we are told to just shut up and suck up?
