You’re not fake simply because you act differently depending on the person you’re with. Different personalities bring out different aspects of your personality. You’re complex and multidimensional; it’s beautiful.
in anthropology this is called “code switching” and it is a completely natural thing that pretty much everyone does.
Aka. This is called being an adult and learning how to interact with different groups of people.
And it’s shitty that I was considered mature and praised for those things, and all of those characteristics have translated into me being an immature, “bad adult.”
Now I
Have difficulty making a keeping friends
Can’t act without permission/am dependent on others for direction
Am terrible at communicating
Have no agency/personal compass
It’s a really difficult thing for people who were abused as children to grapple with.
What made us good children make us bad adults.
I have this theory that if they had given the emoji guy like the simple dot emoji eyes then he wouldn’t be as inherently hateable what do you guys think
Believe it or not, this was the original plan for the film’s look.
As you can see by the image above shown when The Emoji Movie was first announced a year ago all of the Emoji characters were supposed to have black dot eyes, then at some point during production they decided to change most of the eyes to usual generic CGI eyes (there’s still a few emoji’s in the final film with dot eyes, but they are limited to just some of the minor and background characters).
I’m not saying The Emoji Movie would fix all of the movie’s problems if they went with the dot eyes, but it would have at least looked just a little more unique.
