aLexLibrisis an online shop which crafts medieval style leather journal. These designers have inherited the practice of bookmaking, passed on from generations, and with over 15 years of experience, they have preserved an art form in demise.
The traditional and thick leather bound journals, filled with parchment tempered by time and wisdom, has been enriched with the designer’s interpretation of modern symbolism on an ancient book binding technique. Each element of the series is reminiscent of the antique artistry, including the burnished copper plates, and the wooden and leather panelling that respects the materials being plated and bound into shape, and the entire collection of books offered by the shop celebrates the power of knowledge. I’ve seen these on sale at craft stores here. The really nice ones, like the ones pictured here, are usually between 100 and 500 dollars. I got a cheap one for like, 20 dollars, that came with a pencil that is basically a length of tree branch with a graphite core. Very neat stuff.
